Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, 3 oz. Tube

My main use for this was for the contact points on the 7-pin connector for my trailer. It also gets used occasionally for other electric contact points like battery terminals and bulbs and such. And since its Permatex it does what its made for.

Great Dielectric grease for electrical connections. Just the right thickness so it wont run off but still flows nicely. I bought this can over a typical tube because I thought it might be easier to store cleanly and be ready to use when needed. Not really the case, since the applicator tip stores next to the cap and is full of grease. I dont understand why, with just a little more thought, a more sanitary applicator setup could be provided with these grease products. I ended up designing my own tip applicator and made one with my 3D printer that works perfectly and remains on the tip at all times and stores under the factory cap. Now Im really happy with my new grease! Maybe these guys will do something like this for the rest of you some day.

Very simple to use. I used it when I installed new ignition coils in my truck and its not messy.

Keeps water out of seals, works good

A must have for automotive repairs, mine didnt arrive with the dispenser but since I dont need it for my spark plugs thats OK.

Provides great lubrication for plugs. Only need a little applied to prongs and works into the socket after a few plug in. Safe and does not break down. Hard to find a small tube for a good price

Not everyone knows what dielectric grease is, but look it up, youll be surprised at how much it will save the tools that it applies to. Permatex is a company with super people and products, and if someone comes out with a product thats better than theirs, they buy the company, and add their products to their line.

When used correctly, this product will prevent water and other debris from reaching the terminal end of your spark plug. The product should be applied around the insulator portion of the plug and not reach deep inside the boot where the terminal end is. A dielectric is an electrical insulator, it does not promote an electrical connection but actually serves to prevent one. The purpose of the grease is to not allow water and other materials from seeping up toward the terminal end. I apply the grease around the insulator of the plug, then hand tighten the plug into the head. Tighten with a wrench as per your torque requirements (or just a little past snugged up) and press the boot onto the plug. The grease should form a barrier around the plug insulator, preventing stuff from working its was up the plug and from ultimately fouling the terminal end.
