If youve had a problem locating an external drive that will work with the new versions of MacOSx like 11.2.2 (Big Sur) then this is the drive for you. Works read/writing DVDs and Reading/Writing Blu-Rays. So many drives say 10.6 (or equivalent) or above are not advertising correctly. I have tried three others with no success.

After installing the unit, it would not work. So, read the instructions and found out an ac adapter might be needed. Pioneer should have included it--suppose one of their hundreds of accountants made the decision NOT to include the ac adapter as a cost-saving measure. I bought one at the local W-mart and the unit worked fine.

A plug and play device into a powered USB port on the computer. Burns DVDs and BluRays with no problem. I like the clam shell opening on the top rather than the slide out on many DVD/BluRay burners. This does not come with burning software, I already have that so that was not a requirement for me.

Tried this product out based on other reviews. I needed to archive email and downloads to disc (could not use USB flash drive, which would have been much faster, cheaper and easier overall). In prep for re-imaging laptop, I needed to free up storage space on the HDD. DVDs were too small for 200+ GB of email. I had some issues burning to the disc that came with the unit, could not get it to burn. Had to purchase more discs to test out fully. BD-R (Blue Ray Disc) discs are spendy ($41 for pack of 10). Takes a while (25-30 mins) to burn files so be patient. Note- You will not get a full 100GB on the disc, there is overhead, i believe the best you can get is about 90-93GB. I had to break up my PST files into chunks (used 7-Zip). Seems to work as expected. I like the portability and design. I knocked off a star due to the issue with the included 100GB disk which ended up costing me more $ to complete my project.

Recomiendo este producto. Hace justo lo que se necesita de el, lo hace bien y punto. Este grabador es mejor opción que ese de 93 dólares, y de marca desconocida. Pongan unos cuantos dólares más y compren este.

I stated in a review of a similar DVD burner product about spending a few more shekels to get something decent. This Blu Ray burner cost quite a bit more at $130 but it is well worth it as it does the job. I used it to test it and viewed the DVD on a large screen television. This one is a keeper for me as it works much quicker than the burners that come with the computers. Bottom line: Spending a bit more for a decent product will save you grief in the long run. Update 1: The cover tends to vibrate when in use. When I touch or move the burner the noise and vibration does stop. It doesnt appear to affect operation for now but my rating is going down to four stars for now. Update 2: Found the cause of the vibration as the drive needs a stable surface. I had it on top of a box instead. Upgraded the review to five stars. Update 3: Burner still going strong and gets a lot of use as of June 28, 2022. I wanted to state to those who buy this that it is a Blu Ray/DVD burner, not a player. Disks will not play on this. Also, one needs a DVD/BluRay burning program for it to work. I noticed several reviews in which they are upset the unit doesnt play disks.

This is an upgrade to my other Blue ray player. This uses only 1 USB3 port and it writes to Verbatim Mdisk, which is why I purchased it. So far so good. Works fine.
