Pure Encapsulations Zinc 30 mg | Zinc Picolinate Supplement for Immune System Support, Growth and Development, and Wound Healing* | 60 Capsules

Proper dose, easy to swallow. Important supplement!

I’ve been taking 25mg of zinc gluconate for the past year or so with no side effects. But after reading that zinc picolinate is absorbed better by the body, I thought I’d try it in this 30mg form. I took one capsule with a meal, as suggested, but approximately 4-6 hours later I started to feel a “numb/inflamed irritation” in my throat and ears, which I associate with an oncoming cold. An hour or so after this, I began to feel a “straining” pain in my shoulders and upper arms. Needless to say, this was quite unpleasant. I decided not to take the zinc for a week to check if the irritation and pain were related to the supplement. The next day the symptoms were gone, so I was not in fact coming down with a cold. A week later, I took another capsule, again with a meal, and went about my business. As you can probably guess, since I’m writing this review, 4-6 hours later the irritation and pain returned. The unpleasantness lasted for hours until I went to bed. I did a little research (reading all critical reviews here, and googling) looking for others who may have experienced similar side effects, but I did not find anything helpful. Did I get a bad batch? Am I allergic to picolinate in particular, or something else in the capsule? But Pure Encapsulations make it clear on the bottle that the capsules are “Gluten-free, Non-GMO & Hypoallergenic,” so who knows. For now I’m going back to zinc gluconate; perhaps in future I will again try zinc picolinate, but in a smaller dose.

Zinc supplements can be found at less expensive prices, but I prefer to choose a well-regarded brand. Some mineral supplement products from unknown brands may cause or aggravate conditions such as acid reflux. This zinc product is in capsule form, which I prefer for the ease of swallowing. I have not experienced any side effects from this product.

I have always been rather health conscious and try to find affordable health products to help me, as I age. When the pandemic came into my lives, I read up on various supplements that might help me to boost my own immune system. One of those suggested was zinc. I started off with 15 mg. of the Pure Encapsulations and didnt think much about it. Now, to backtrack, Ive been dealing with mild hypertension for about ten years. None of the doctors could explain why I had high blood pressure as my diet and exercise regime should have keep my readings in the normal range. Because I dont want to take prescribed medication, I take my readings every morning and noticed my readings were dropping. I then did some research on zinc and learned that females sometimes have a zinc deficiency and that can head to high blood pressure. The article i read said not to go above 45 mg. So, I started taking 15 mg. in the morning and 15 mg., continuing to eat healthy and exercise. My BP readings are now in the 118/68 to 123/70 range. Consistently. I decided to buy the 30 mg. tablets and continue to track my blood pressure. I do not know if this will work for any other woman and I urge you to speak with your health professional, especially if you are on blood pressure medication. I dont take any medication and this regime works for me. I am very happy with this product, amazon ships it to me fast and Pure Encapsulations has a good reputation. I pay for the supplement and have not received any form of product or anything else for this recommendation. In addition to the lower blood pressure, I do seem healthier overall. No sniffles, colds or any other illness like that this winter. I am eventually decrease back down to the 15 mg. dose, but for now I am very happy with the 30 mg. and my overall health.

Somehow Im getting a bottle every month while the bottle contains 60 tabs at one/day. I tried to cancel the auto ship but havent figured out how to do that. I currently have 3 full bottles.

Our allergy season has fallen on us. I am a senor and each year it is harder to block the drainage and sniffles. I start early with the zinc to reduce the affects of allergy or cold. Be Safe.
