> 3 dayWho does not love a Viking theme:) The artwork is beautiful. The components are of a good quality. I like the metal coins! Packed out on the table it looks inviting! It is easy to setup and to learn. And its a wonderful game to play because its so immersive. Its enjoyable from start to finish and every time you play it. Every game I played was nail biting and every time I brought it to the table the crowd loved it. Works well as as a 2 and as a 4 player game. Dont hesitate, go get a copy and start raiding the North Sea!

> 3 dayGranted, this is a good game in the sense that it’s easy to learn and teach and is about as simple a euro-style, worker placement game as you’re going to get... ...and admittedly it’s fun... BUT! It suffers from some major issues. I’m going to have to compare this to Lords of Waterdeep which, as of this writing, is actually $33 and this is $35. Even if LoWD was selling for $40 or $45 I’d say go with that LONG before you get this (unless this is going for $25 or so). So, you’ve watched videos on YouTube on how to play and read other reviews here that explain it. But how is it, really? The experience that is. Pros - as stated previously, it’s VERY easy to learn and teach. It almost a “filler” kind of game to me but with the length of the game sort of over shooting that mark. But yeah, it’s that simple. It’s a beautiful game, great artwork and production quality (the coins are metal!). While simple, it does have some strategy to it. Cons - it felt like it was missing two things to me, choice and combat. The village choices didn’t seem “chunky” enough and the selection is limited. LoWD KILLS this game in that respect allowing players to add more options to the board during play. Also, when it came to “raiding” I felt I was doing it wrong the first time because it was so anticlimactic. Have the Viking and the provisions required? Done. You “raided”. Collect your loot. It felt like there should have been SOMEthing to denote a battle of some kind. Sure your Vikings have strength values, sure your roll upnto two red dice...but these are just to determine how many victory points you’re going to get for the raid. Vikings have strength but don’t use it in actual battle?? Hmmm. This one really is a no brainer - MUCH better worker placement games out there and for the same price! This one has its little elements (place a worker, remove a worker) but it’s boring compared to a game like Lords of Waterdeep. UPDATE! So, we’ve pulled this game out now a few times since my original review and I’ve upgraded it to 3 stars instead of 2. Since my original post, many expansions have become available for this base game that have done an effective job of making it “better”. However, you’ll need to invest in those expansions to get there, obviously. It’s also a legitimate turnoff for many people who don’t want to have to buy expansions to make an “ok” game better. They want something good -great right out of the box! I don’t blame them! Plenty of those games out there. But, I did want to say the game has grown over time and coincidentally, with the numerous expansions to choose from, you can grow with it. In essence, you can scale the game to your liking by adding an expansion to it.

> 3 dayGood ideas, mediocre implementation. It is good game, but I can think of many other better worker placement games. The problem that I had was that it felt very repetitive and tiring after a while. I felt your actions/accomplishments in the end will be the same you did in the beginning. I really wanted to love the game, I do love the theme and the art, but they could have added some escalation mechanism to make the game more interesting as it progresses. Good, not great.

> 3 dayOne of the better worker placement games out there. It’s very easy to learn, and it plays at a good pace. It takes about 60-90 minutes to play a full game.

> 3 dayBought this game to play with my brothers and they enjoyed it a lot. Learning the game went smoothly. The instructions were clear and detailed. First game took 2hours. Every game afterwards took between 1 hour to 1.5hour. Would definitely reccomend this game to others and those who are beginnners.
