Perfect for my hedgehogs cage! So far so good on how long it lasts. Came in perfect condition.

The Amazon price for this was outstanding and the delivery quick. The Zoo Med ReptiCare IR heater is the best heater I have found for herps. Anyone keeping a reptile should have, as a minimum, a proper habitat, reliable IR heater and a proper light. The herps we have rescued often suffer from an inadequate environment and improper diet. PLEASE read, learn and be certain you are willing and able to properly care for all critters you bring into your house, try to get a rescue animal -- they need a home, then buy only the best equipment for them, like Zoo Med heaters and keep your critters healthy (dont cut corners) -- they depend on you.

The heater performs as indicated. Im using it in my chicken coop. I wanted to mount it low in the coop so that the heat would have maximum effect. Unfortunately, chickens would brush against the heater singing their feathers. A wire cage would mitigate this problem.

This bulb keeps my boa terrarium nice and warm and helps to keep the humidity higher. Ive been using this same bulb for 3 years through 24/7 operation.

My brother said that this works great and that it is more than what he expected at the time. Works great.

It does exactly what it is intended to, but I have found that some of these have a much shorter life the others. I have gotten some that only last 3 or 4 months, while others have lasted much longer. Also, since this emits no light, it should not be used by someone who is not good at checking the cage often, since it may go out and thus cause a large drop in temperature.
