> 3 dayIve been using these for years. They work well, and live up to their stated 5-year life expectancy, so long as you dont drop it or bang it. The ceramic is quite delicate, I suspect it gets even weaker with age from all the heating/cooling cycles, so take care not to jar it.

> 3 dayThis light heats up, just not has much as I would like. My previous lamp heated up my hedgehogs home great, this lamp cant quite compare to my last one.

Greater than one weekWorks really well! I have had it over a month now with no problems. It saved my bearded dragon and my wallet.

> 3 dayGood design and works good. My only complaint is that they do not put out much heat. I know now to order a higher wattage next time.

> 3 dayThe Amazon price for this was outstanding and the delivery quick. The Zoo Med ReptiCare IR heater is the best heater I have found for herps. Anyone keeping a reptile should have, as a minimum, a proper habitat, reliable IR heater and a proper light. The herps we have rescued often suffer from an inadequate environment and improper diet. PLEASE read, learn and be certain you are willing and able to properly care for all critters you bring into your house, try to get a rescue animal -- they need a home, then buy only the best equipment for them, like Zoo Med heaters and keep your critters healthy (dont cut corners) -- they depend on you.

> 3 dayIve had reptiles for about 17 years now and will always buy ceramic for heating needs. They are the longest lasting, most durable bulbs you can buy. I do like how the red-light heat bulbs look at night, but they never last a fraction of the time the ceramic will. These bulbs last SO long, they will tend to collect dust, which creates a burning odor. I just recommend dusting them off every now and then. Just use caution when it comes to the size of your tank, and monitor your animal for a few days to gauge if the wattage is too high, the bulb is too close, etc. as these do get extremely hot. Highly recommend.

> 3 dayThese must be seconds because they separate off of the metal socket threads, and the socket threads are smashed down so you cant even get them screwed in easily. These are junk, broken and Im returning all of them. What a waste of time.

> 3 dayWorked great out of the box. Puts out great heat. Once it warms up, you can feel some heat coming off of it, but not as much as I expected, but when I let it sit over an area for a few minutes, I was impressed with how warm things got absorbing the infrared. I was looking for something that didnt put out light, and I didnt know if this would have a red glow or anything, but it puts out no light at all even when hot. I got it as a warmer for my pet hedgehog and use it in conjunction with this thermostat for heating pads ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NZZG3S/ ) and it does great at maintaining a consistent good temperature. As far as heating power, when on constantly, I estimate it keeps an area of 1 foot in front of it it at 71-72 F in open air when the ambient temperature was 68 F. I think it could heat a lot more in an enclosed space. My only reservation is that I have only had it for about a month so I cant comment on its lifetime. But assuming it lasts a reasonable amount of time, 5 stars for sure.
