> 24 hourI called the Rit Dye help line for advice on how to dye a dress the perfect color. It was a mix of two dyes that I couldnt find at the store so I ordered through Amazon. The Tropical Teal dye did not have the seal on the top and was only about 3/4 full. There wasnt any dye on the bottle or in the package so I dont see any evidence of leakage.... it looks like someone had opened it and used part of the dye. I was on a time crunch and had to dye my dress today. The recipe called for an entire bottle of Tropical Teal - I used all that was in the bottle and even rinsed the bottle to get all the dye I could out of the bottle. Needless to say, my dress didnt turn out the exact shade -- I can only assume it was because I didnt have all of the Tropical Teal dye that was required for the mix. Very disappointed.

> 24 hourIt was not as vibrant as it seemed. I was dying polyester so it may have been the material but I still liked the color. Ended up more of a baby blue!

> 24 hourIt states it is not for cotton fabric and it is true. It dyes unevenly on pure cotton. It’s a good color and I’m going to try it on some other fabric blends.

> 24 hourRIT dye is reliable for its effectiveness, but the coloring was much darker than displayed on the bottle.

> 24 hourI used it to dye two phone cases. both of them were crystal clear flexible cases (TPU material). I used 4 teaspoons of Tropical Teal color plus one cup of hot water from a tea kettle in a pyrex dish. I didnt choose stovetop, I was worried it would warp the case. the water cooled as I used it, but it turned out fine. edit: several months later, these cases still look wonderful. the dye never wore off. UPDATE: Ive used the graphite color of this dye for several other projects. success varies depending on what material you use. the items that had a lot of nylon content worked really well, and so did one sweater that was 75% rayon. some socks that were 97% polyester did not take the dye at all. also, the projects where I was refreshing the color worked best -- for example: faded black clothes looked brand new after I refreshed them with graphite dye, but the white clothes I dyed turned out dark grey and slightly uneven. Im not surprised, but figured Id pass that on. basically, the more subtle of a change youre going for, the better. also, consider the fact that mixed materials are going to give you mixed results. for example, thread might not take the dye as much as the rest of the garment.
