> 3 dayThis product (Mac version) is waaay out of date. It is a 32-bit app so will NOT run under the new Mac OS -Catalina and Roxio is now run/supported by Corel so the support is slow to respond and pretty bad. That said, its hard to fault the company for a product that is at the end of its life -its unclear how many folks need to digitize old VHS in the bad resolution and bad color that VHS tapes are at. Its also very slow and hangs periodically. Probably the things that irks me is that they still are charging $50 - $95 for this. Good news is that it works as advertised, bad news is that its very expensive for outdated technology.

> 3 dayThis product works easy enough. Put the VHS tape in a VCR that is hooked to the USB Dongle that comes with this, hit play, record, and walk away for a few hours as it records to digital. When OS Switched to 64 bit, the software wouldnt work anymore, but today I decided to see if there had been an update (12/12/19), and there was. Tech support provided a link to download it once I gave them the CD key for my software. Its working again. Now I can convert for embarrassing family videos to show at Christmas time.

> 3 dayShouldve read the reviews. If I could give zeroes, I would. This is easily the most useless and time-wasting program ever. I bought the new program because I was assured that it was compatible with Catalina and the whole 64-bit thing. Instructions for wiping my old Easy VHS to DVD program off my hard drive was confusing. Numerous (spelled many, many) attempts to hook up with Tech Support, if you can call it that, finally resulted in being able to load the new program and capture video. Yea! Right? BUT . . . you cannot hear the audio through the computer while recording, only through the camcorder. Saving and playing back a captured video not only produces no audio, but playback is in 2X fast forward. I hooked the camcorder to a TV and other devices and it works fine. The program DOES NOT. Many more attempts at support resulted in the advice to launch the program and then add the playback device when prompted. Did that. Same results. Its not like Im new to Roxio and Easy VHS to DVD. My old program allowed me to capture and save over 150 videos. Many reviews warned of incompatibility with Catalina. Guess what?!? They are right. Dont waste your time.

> 3 dayI am no computer whiz and I found this product to be extremely easy to use. I spent about 5 minutes hooking up the connections and installing the software. When I opened the application, it played my video and it was very intuitive to record, pause, and save. I am running 10.6. The one glitch I have caught (which is the only reason this is not 5 stars) is with fast forward. I generally cannot watch it fast forward and one time it cause the software to freeze. I just closed it and relaunched and it worked just fine. Please dont let the negative reviews stop you from buying this product.

> 3 dayIts only USB 2.0. It will only work with USB 2.0. And you only know this when you install the software and go to plug in the device and see that it wont be recognized by the software but it is recognized by the computer. So if you have an Mac that is 2012 or newer, you will not be able to use this product. I had to borrow a neighbors old 2010 MacBook Pro to use this product. It does a decent job recording the videos. Im just glad I have to do this only once. Also, Roxio customer service sucks terribly. I got one email reply back from them 24 hours after I sent one, then replied to that one like instructed to if I had more questions and its been a week and havent heard anything about they said I would have a response in 24 hours. So in the end, its fine. It gets the job done, but you need an older Mac (Pre-2011) and customer service sucks.

> 3 dayRoxio does it again. I tried many, MANY approaches to convert VHS analog video to digital and burn to a dvd. Went through a good deal of crap [sorry, but yes] and frustration and Im a decent hacker. Part of the problem here is Apple. They simply walked away from support of any PPC [the older Motorola] chip in favor of Intel. If you can get access to an Intel machine running OS X 10.6 or better, this will work. Install the application on the enclosed DVD onto said machine, connect 2 plugs, cue up the tape and GO. 40 minutes later, you will have a 40-minute digital video file on the HD. Burn it, copy it, edit it, whatever. I ended up putting it on a 4GB flash drive. Please note: THIS WILL NOT WORK ON A POWERBOOK G4 OR IMAC G5, REGARDLESS OF THEIR OS X. IT JUST WONT.

> 3 dayNot sure if it is this device or my old VHS recorder, but when there is a glitch in the VHS tape the rest of the conversion is not synced (audio and video is off). Other than that...I have been able to recover ALL my old VHS and 8mm anolog tapes and convert them to digital.

> 3 dayI was not sure what to expect from the reviews I read. I have the system requirement and version 1.0.3. My experience with this product was positive. It was easy to install. Each set-up step work first try. It imported easily into iMovie and I was able to use Toast to burn a DVD. I am sure there might be better (more expensive) programs for transferring VHS to the computer, however for the price it does the job it says it will. I transferred two hours of video, imported into iMovie, edited it down to 5 minutes with color and sound corrections, converted it to Quicktime, and uploaded the video to YouTube all on the first try.

> 3 dayI can now digitize a ton of VHS tapes I’ve collected over the years, and thereby gain all of the advantages of digital files (near-instantaneous access to any point in a movie or cartoon). Yay!

> 3 dayI purchased the VHS to DVD early in August 2012. I had originally purchased another brand of product to transfer my family VHS to DVD, but found that I needed another product in order to burn the DVDs. Anyway, Roxio offered this product which INCLUDED the Roxio Toast Basicso I could burn the DVDs. I was happy to have an all-in-one item. I ordered it and it came, but I didnt look at the box. Once loaded I found out the version Amazon sent to me didnt include the Basic Toast. So I sent it back and reordered, indicating that in the description and on the box it shows that Roxio Toast Basic is included. Amazon shipped me another one, but that one also did NOT included Roxio Toast Basic, so I shipped it back again. I believe what happened is that when I went shopping for the Easy VHS to DVD I found one that was priced at $49.99. When I was having trouble getting Amazon to ship the one with Toast and Id go to Amazon and search, all I found was the Easy VHS to DVD with the Toast listed at 69.99. In short... I think Amazon boo-booed at the beginning, when they priced the VHS to DVD with Toast at $49.99, then sent me the version WITHOUT toast because I originally paid $49.99. To make a long story short... I returned the second version, I have not reordered another one with Toast because I was waiting for Amazon to credit my account. Because of this snafu, I truly dont know HOW the software works, but I am assuming it will be fine. Amazon is being GREAT about this and is going to send the original version that I ordered WITH Toast at teh $49.99 price. Thank you Amazon. I do like doing business with a company that understands and is so easy to deal with.
