Works perfectly on macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 For moving VCR Tapes to computer. I couldnt figure out how to burn DVDs but I put them in iMovie and did major edits and then posted online to share. When I get time Ill try to make sense of the DVD Burn part.

Do NOT BUY this product if you are running SNOW Leopard. IT does not work with it. I got this in June before SNOW...but just installed it 2 days ago and I cant get it to work well. It hangs constantly while trying to finish up the video after you click Stop recording. If you try to record more than 8 mins of video it never records more either. EIther way the software is a $67 waste for me. The ONLY good thing is that it does seem to be very easy to use. And in fact i did get it to work ONE time for a 4 min video clip I did. I wish so much itd work more. The good thing is their customer service on email is VERY responsive. The BAD thing is they have NO answers for Snow Leopard and told me flat out it may not work with Snow Leopard. May not work!?!?!?!? Trust me it does NOT work. They said they are working on a fix...hmmm. Roxio has diaspointed me very much. They really should give me my money back. Lesson learned..do NOT every buy a product pre release like I did with this. What a mistake. So let me be the goat this time...do NOT buy until and IF they ever fix their software. The latest patch makes no difference. Hate massively!!!

Roxio does it again. I tried many, MANY approaches to convert VHS analog video to digital and burn to a dvd. Went through a good deal of crap [sorry, but yes] and frustration and Im a decent hacker. Part of the problem here is Apple. They simply walked away from support of any PPC [the older Motorola] chip in favor of Intel. If you can get access to an Intel machine running OS X 10.6 or better, this will work. Install the application on the enclosed DVD onto said machine, connect 2 plugs, cue up the tape and GO. 40 minutes later, you will have a 40-minute digital video file on the HD. Burn it, copy it, edit it, whatever. I ended up putting it on a 4GB flash drive. Please note: THIS WILL NOT WORK ON A POWERBOOK G4 OR IMAC G5, REGARDLESS OF THEIR OS X. IT JUST WONT.

Not sure what I AM DOING WITH THIS PRODUCT. Trying to save old VHS on to DVD, but its been more of a headache than not. I think I need another type of VHS player. I wish that was in the description. Oh well, someone I know must have a more current VHS player, Ill just have to ask around. I gave it 3 stars because I really dont know if it works, but I am giving it the benefit of the doubt.

***UPDATE*** I maintain my 1-star, and would give Zero stars if they were allowed. Roxio tech support contacted me, and asked me to download their latest updates - the 6-year old software I have previously mentioned. I informed them that those apps are incompatible with modern macOS 10, and that the hardware is not recognized by my MacBook Pro to be a video capture device. Without a solution, they replied We hope everything has been resolved to your satisfaction, and offered a 15% discount on unrelated Windows software. They seem to have forgotten that we were discussing Mac software, and that they hadnt provided any solutions, or even a refund for their lack of support. *** ***************** I purchased this to digitize video of my father, who had just passed away. This product is absolutely useless. The software does not launch, the updates on the Roxio website are 6 years out of date. The hardware is not recognized by my Mac. Why do they still sell this? There is not a Mac still in service that this product is compatible with. I am out $50.00, and must continue searching for a way to capture video of my late father.

I bought the product to convert my wedding VHS tapes from 21 years ago. I am running Mac OS 10.5.8 on a 2008 model Mac Pro. It worked well converting my first tape to a digital file. No issue of drop outs as reported on some posts. I have yet to burn the DVD, but this should work as well. I will repost at a leter date if this is not the case. I gave it 4 stars because there are some other similar hardware products (? igrabber)through Meritline that cost half the price that may work as well, but I am less sure about the accompanying software. I went with the Roxio product because not spending hours tracking down acompanying software is not worth the $25 in cost savings. Purchase through Amazon was a charm as usual.

Bought it for my iMac to get video off my old VCR with only composite (red, white, yellow) outputs. The capture device worked OK once, but my 16:9 VHS video came through as 4:3 aspect ratios. Everyone look very thin. The software was very limited with no adjustments despite trying to get help from Roxio Tech Support. Next time I used it, the capture device was not recognized by the software so both were useless. I contacted Tech Support for a replacement or refund. VERY SLOWLY they would email ideas over the last two weeks that I had already tried. So far they have not replaced the unit or refunded anything - just more redundant questions. It seems they are just stalling to wear me out. HOWEVER, THERE IS A GREAT SOLUTION. I got a cheap Composite-to-HDMI converter and a cheap HDMI-to-USB capture device (together both cost about 2/3 the Roxio cost), and I used the free Mac QuickTime Player software (you can record using it). That worked perfectly! Do not buy the Roxio device and software for a Mac.

I was quite worried with all the bad reviews, but so far this product has worked exactly as advertised except for the fact that after copying a DVD, the selection to burn a disk with Toast did not work automatically. I had to open the Toast application and than drag the video to start the burning process - not really a big deal. The Toast application is actually Toast 9 and seems to be the full version. There was an upgrade for both the copy program and Toast, which I downloaded before trying the software. I am still a bit concerned about the reported poor support by Roxio, but hopefully, I wont need to contact them. By the way, I am operating Lion 10.7.1 on a 3.06 GHz intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 4 GB RAM. One caveat - dont expect great DVDs from poor VHS tapes. You still get the quality of the tape, which, of course, pales in comparison to what we have gotten used to with DVD.

I would give this product no stars if possible. While I was able to convert a VHS to a digital format it was impossible to convert to a DVD because the audio was always out of sync and lagged behind the video. My whole purpose was to be able to create DVDs of our home movies. I wasted at least 20 hours, many blank DVD disks which always had this lag. I contacted tech support who did not seem to understand the problem, Even after explaining it a number of times in several emails. Their solutions was to uninstall and then reinstall which made no difference at all. They just didn’t get that the problem was not so much with the VHS to video portion but with being able to create the DVD with their included software. So, if your goal is to convert VHS to DVDs, I suggest you don’t waste your time or your money.

It works, basically, but suffers (makes the user suffer) from basic flaws, endemic to corporate ideology. Some tattle: Roxio was purchased by Corel. In the go-go world of consumer-targeted software firm acquisitions, orphaned products like this app get shorted in support and development as a matter of course. The prime directive is to maximize profit, if it even needs to be stated. (Roxios Toast was certainly the cherry on top of the negotiations, so you can expect Corel to go all Adobe on its ass, eviscerating that app of its former usefulness. If you like Toast, dont upgrade. Start looking now for a replacement app, open source or otherwise.) Okay, this app, Easy VHS to DVD, works, but you have to swallow the $49 price and just lower your expectations. Once you have done the former, a few points might be helpful toward profiting from the latter. I have dozens of tapes to rip, so to make it less painless and more organized, I want to streamline the various processes. - Set a computer aside for the sole purpose of ripping VHS tape. - This app is not particularly useful beyond merely ripping one big .mov file per cassette. If this is your scenario too, youre going to need ample disk space. - When you set up to rip each tape, forget about High Quality setting. It does not apply to VHS, and if you are ripping something of higher quality, do a 60 second test run and see if its worth it. The high quality setting is the unchangeable default, inconveniently, and it seems to create audio synching problems. There will be no help from Roxio/Corel on this, but there are some helpful chats out there. Search: roxio vhs audio synch problem delay (or the like) - Have a precise idea in advance of the duration of the tapes or segment(s) you want to rip. You can do this by making notes on paper for each cassette, and then naming the .mov file (rip) to match its tape/segment (source). - Set an external alarm clock to tell you when to come back and Finish the rip file. (The auto-stop feature is not entirely useful, as it is only big round numbers.) - Dont waste time trying to clip, trim, or manage files using this app. It is only a bulk ripper, as far as I am concerned. - I use QuickTime Player to view the .mov files timecodes and make notes (again, on paper) for precise cutting points. - I then use HandBrake to re-rip each .mov into custom length .mp4 files. (You will need a seconds calculator, HandBrake does only second or frames.) - In HandBrake, select the preset iPad then uncheck the Large File checkbox, and you will get good compression and quality. (Let it be known, for I am proud to say it: I do not use, nor do I recommend iMovie, iDVD, or any software which starts with a lower-case i for that matter.)
