Greater than one weekHeadline says it all. Easy to setup and use with Mojave 10.10.5. Saves to .mov format. Decent quality, considering the source technology. Dont buy the Roxio VHS to DVD for video capture if you intend to use with Catalina, at least at this point in time (May 20).

> 3 dayNeeded to convert some VHS and Mini8 to DVD. Reviews shown from 1 stars to 5 stars so kind of confused. After reading most of them. Realized some of the 1 star were from times when the product first came out. Also some of the problems that people run into seem to me are hardware problems and not software. Figured the developer would have enough time to clean up the bugs. So pick one up around $60.00 which I think its a great deal. Installed the thing onto my 2.0 Ghz. Mac running OS10.6.8. Took only about 15 mins. including reading part of the manual and hooking up the wiring. Pop in the VHS and follow the instruction. About 1 1/2 hours later I have myself a recorded DVD. Cannot be easier. Only thing would like to see is maybe some extra functions such as pause and play etc... This way I can skip the parts that I dont want to record. So I dont have to waste time to edit it later. Bottom line, if you just need to do Simple Transfer like me. This is what you want. Good stuff.

> 3 dayPurchased the Mac version. About 1/2 the price of other such devices. Works perfectly when hooking up the good ol clunky VCR to transfer 1980s family footage to digital. Creates .mov files which easily drop right into iMovie.

> 3 dayIt does exactly what it says. The included version of Toast is still Toast 9. As you install, an updater takes you to the 9.07 updater required to run in the current Mac. You will have to go to Preferences/Security as the updater triggers the untrusted developer error but once you allow installation everything works well. The only downside is that this should really include the current version of Toast 11. Other than that, it works fine.

> 3 dayIm not sure if Ive ever written an Amazon review. But I feel compelled because I spent WAY too much time comparing the various options for digitizing VHS. Hope I save others a bit of time. Im running macOS Big Sur 11.6.1. First, Roxio is a perfectly good product. It is easy to set-up and use and produces good results. So, whats the but? After trialing Roxio, I decided to check-out Elgato just to be sure Im getting the best possible results before investing the time and effort into converting a lot of precious family video tapes to digital. While the differences arent night & day, Elgato is the better product for a few reasons. First, and foremost, the AUDIO is so much better. FAR less noise and better sound quality overall. The video is slightly better. 5%? 10%? Finally, the file sizes I get with Roxio are THREE TIMES the size of the file sizes with the Elgato. Dont get me wrong, if I was giving letter grades, the Roxio would be solidly in the low-B/high-C range. It is not a fail by a long shot. But for me, the Elgato is easily an A-. Hope this review helps others.

> 3 dayI am very happy with this purchase. It connected and installed easily and I was able to start capturing those precious home videos from VHS tapes with ease. I am sharing the digitized videos with family via cloud storage, so this is really helping us stay hunkered down during the Cocid-19 crisis.

03-04-2025Thought a Roxio product would actually work but was sadly mistaken. The interface was easy and actually worked pulling in a video from my VHS player. That is as far as my positive comments can go. The software that came with this was worthless. You press record and it appears to be recording, but after you are done you would expect a button saying finish recording (or save, or something along that line) but there isnt and the recording does not save anywhere on your hard drive. I went to the Roxio site and there is no support for the product at all. The software only showed an update for older software than what came with the product. I thought maybe it would help so I downloaded the only software they had on the Roxio site and it was worse than the original. With no ability to save the recording, it will not be in my possession for very long. I am sending it back. I have looked into the Elgato Video Capture option. I hope it works better than this POC!

> 3 dayI’m having a difficult time making the software work. I need to be able to load the VHS video to my MacBook Pro, which I was able to do. However I have two problems, when I run the video on my computer the movie plays with a Play Directive in the upper left part of the screen that says play with some kind of icon. Also I’m unable to transfer the video to a DVD. I assumed when the software says Roxio easy VHS to DVD it means I can transfer the video from my computer to a dvd.

> 3 dayBought it for my iMac to get video off my old VCR with only composite (red, white, yellow) outputs. The capture device worked OK once, but my 16:9 VHS video came through as 4:3 aspect ratios. Everyone look very thin. The software was very limited with no adjustments despite trying to get help from Roxio Tech Support. Next time I used it, the capture device was not recognized by the software so both were useless. I contacted Tech Support for a replacement or refund. VERY SLOWLY they would email ideas over the last two weeks that I had already tried. So far they have not replaced the unit or refunded anything - just more redundant questions. It seems they are just stalling to wear me out. HOWEVER, THERE IS A GREAT SOLUTION. I got a cheap Composite-to-HDMI converter and a cheap HDMI-to-USB capture device (together both cost about 2/3 the Roxio cost), and I used the free Mac QuickTime Player software (you can record using it). That worked perfectly! Do not buy the Roxio device and software for a Mac.
