Greater than one weekWorked well. I did the hi8 conversion using my camera to play the tape. Transfers well and was easy to write the dvd. I then tested the dvd in my DVD player and worked great.

28-11-2024Had a little trouble with the sound not coming through, every other tape. Had to keep rebooting to fix that problem, but we think it may have been associated with the cabling. My VCR does not have all 3 connectors (not stereo), so that may have caused some confusion in the connection. The process is a bit tedious for lots of tapes because it runs real-time. The most disappointing thing is that by reading the description on Amazon it leads you to believe you can burn DVDs with this software. You cannot. You have to take the converted copies it created and then process it from there using something else. In my case, I dont have iDVD or bundled DVD burner, so I have to find yet more software to do that because I want to view the movies on a standard DVD player for TV, not huddle around my Mac. On the plus side, for a reasonable cost I now have all 20 VHS home videos safely converted to digital and stored in my Mac. That was the biggest hurdle of all since having it done professionally would have cost far more.

> 3 dayOk, when I saw the price for this gizmo I figured it had to be cheap and would never work. Or work for just a short time. I waited to review it until after I gave it a fair shake. Ive now completed over 20 VHS movies to Digital format and let me tell you this thing really works! I can now save old VHS movies that never got made to DVD as well as home movies. It has been a blast to watch the old stuff again and now I have it saved on my computer and can watch it any time or anywhere. So worth the investment and so easy to use.

> 3 dayThis was very difficult for me to understand how to use. May just be my level of knowledge on the product use all in itself.

> 3 dayThis VHS converter to digital assembly does the job using the RCA plugs, I could not get the S-video connector to work.

Greater than one weekThe Amazon description is for a version of this software that will run on OS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 Macs. The problem is the software sent to me will only work on Intel Macs, and only those running OS X 10.6 up to OS X 10.9. The information right on the package I received stated Intel only. I sent it back for refund. I need a version that will run on PPC G5 processors with OS X 10.5.

> 3 daypurchased it to move vhs to dvd - I use the Apple Mac and the way they made this appear as though its a simple plug and play device, I contacted customer service only to be put on hold for 20 min to then be informed they needed to bump this up to a tech support at which time all I get is an auto generated email stating thanks we appreciate you letting us know DONT BUY

Greater than one weekOriginally I purchased a competing product, but it utterly failed, so I opted for a few dollars more to buy this Roxio video capture system. The instructions, while sparse, are quite clear. The software is installed in your Mac and after installation, one is greeted with the now familiar compatibility warning that it is 32 bit and will soon not work on your Mac. Not to worry, almost immediately a popup reveals an update which you should download and allow to install and relaunch. Once done, connect up your device to your Mac and to your VCR or Camcorder, open the window and follow the easy directions. WARNING!!! prepare to go have lunch as the tape MUST PLAY IN REAL TIME. So, if a tape is 2 hours, that is how long it will take. Once done, you will find the completed .mov file in your User folder under Movies with a Roxio Video Capture folder that contains the movie. After that you can edit the movie in iMovie or, if it is good enough and you dont need sound track or titles, just burn it to an appropriate disk (CD, DVD or dual layer DVD). While I am not the worlds greatest lover of Roxio, this baby works as advertised. Glad I bought it as I have some videos shot 40 years ago that needed to be saved digitally. My wife is happy. happy wives make happy husbands. (old proverb)
