> 3 dayThe machine was very noisy in terms of the stylus seeking information on the disk. The advertised transfer speeds were not present either. The unit ran extremely hot and made very loud noises, like all units that are not controlled by the USB port, it was on all the time. Very disappointed in these products. I have invested in LaCie products recommended by Apple as I was connecting this drive to the new Mac Studio computer. Not only were the LaCie products less expensive but they work very, very, well. I believe Western Digital is a valuable player in the small portable market but I won’t invest in any of their desktop products going forward.

> 3 dayI work as a professional filmmaker, and G-Drives have always been my go-to when needed to edit off a drive (backups are handled by slower ones). Thunderbolt is speedy as always, and handling workflows with cinema camera footage doesnt clog it up one bit. A solid recommendation for anyone on the fence.

> 3 dayThis is my second purchase of this product. Good size storage at a good cost. the drive does get a little hot though, but has lasted for 5 years daily use.

> 3 dayWhen this drive is seeking it is really Loud (teeth chattering type sound loud). I wouldnt use it in the same room as one in which youre doing audio recording in. Otherwise, it seems to work well, looks good, etc. Basically loses one star because of the loudness.

> 3 dayIt arrived on November 16th and I returned it on November 16th. I used the USB connection to interface the drive with my new laptop. Notably, my brand new laptop could not recognize the 12T drive in my laptops device manager. I disconnected and reconnected it multiple times with no success. Called a friend of mine who works in the security division at Microsoft and he suggested that I return it. As such, I did! He has seen this many times with external hard drives. He advised a different device. So it may work for some folks, but not for me! Oh well!

> 3 dayI bought this because the new iMacs have so little storage but it is nearly useless. Every time you need to save a file to it you need to enter a password. This is absurd security and the only person it keeps out is the user. Ok as an archive but useless as storage.

> 3 dayIm a video producer who generally uses SSDs for active projects and this G-Drive 6 TB Thunderbolt 3 external for saving completed projects and b-roll. This external is great on a Mac M1 because it has a 250 mb/sec transfer rate, which is very close to the SSDs I use. But recently it started going to sleep, and not wanting to wake up. Its at half-capacity by the way, so its not an issue of being overloaded.
