Always will buy this drive first.

I work as a professional filmmaker, and G-Drives have always been my go-to when needed to edit off a drive (backups are handled by slower ones). Thunderbolt is speedy as always, and handling workflows with cinema camera footage doesnt clog it up one bit. A solid recommendation for anyone on the fence.

The SanDisk G-Drive external hard drive description states, Works with Windows via reformat & easily reformatted for Windows. However, the SanDisk websites actual instructions for reformatting the G-Drive for Windows indicate that reformatting it is NOT easy – it is complex, risky, there are potential compatibility issues, etc. If you intend to use the G-Drive with Windows, read the SanDisk websites instructions for whats involved in reformatting the G-Drive for Windows. I returned the G-Drive.

I own several hard drives including RAID sets. This SanDisk drive has great storage, but it is the loudest and hottest drive I own. The clicking/clacking is intermittent but loud. The drive does not appear to have a fan, and all sides of the metal case get hot. A drive costing over $700 should be of better quality!

Even though the interface is USB-C, the actual date transfer speed is quite slow. I am only getting 125Mbs.

This product once purchased can not be returned or replaced. My new drive crashed and lost all me data. Ive been trying to use a recovery app thats been running for 1 week non stop to recover my data and its only at 40%. Stay away!

It is very easy to use looks great and my client love it.

Great hard drive to storage videos and photos

This is my second purchase of this product. Good size storage at a good cost. the drive does get a little hot though, but has lasted for 5 years daily use.

G drive is good overall but this one came having noise and crackling sound so returned!
