20-11-2024I owned the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 before these, and wanted better sound. I wanted to hear sounds that Id never heard from headphones before. After searching the internet for a few weeks, I finally made the decision to buy these. After reading so much, I discovered that you cant really BEAT the performance of these headphones without spending upwards of $900. I also found out they required a proper amp to drive them; so I bought a Little Dot MK III at the same time. I have been blown away from the sound since day one(I bought both 12/15/10). Every day I use them, I am reminded of how great they are. I dont know what to say about them that hasnt been said before. They have a very solid history if you do a bit of googling. A+ item. If anything ever happened to them and they were out of warranty, I would definitely buy them again.

> 3 dayIve had these for a couple of months now and all I can say is wow. They sound absolutely gorgeous, absolutely shining with detail and some of the best mids Ive heard, period. Overall the sound is very high resolution - the HD name is very fitting, it makes your music sound just so much better.

> 3 dayI owned a pair of Sennheiser 580 HD for over 10 years with nearly daily use. So when it came time to replace them, I had no concerns that Sennheiser would still provide an outstanding product.

> 3 dayIve owned these for 7 years and they are still my go-to headphone for enjoyable music listening. Ive owned more high end headphones (up to $2000 ea.) than I care to admit or list. I always come back to these for their non-fatiguing, long-listening ability. I listen to all genres but mostly electronic. Sources range from Spotify to uncompressed CD and vinyl rips. They work best with a headphone amp and I have several ranging from home built SS and tube kits, a Ray Samuels Audio Predator (for portability), and my personal favorite, the Little Dot MKIII. I use a Beresford TC-7520 DAC with LM4562 opamps to supply the LD MKIII via custom autoformers and to me it is the most enjoyable combo to listen to. I dont think you can find a more enjoyable open backed headphone than this in the sub $2000 price point. More articulate or perhaps better imaging, sure, but these are what I find myself listening to 90% of the time.
