> 3 dayIll keep this review short and simply say that these latches look great, are pretty easy to install, and solved my problem of having dull faded OEM latches. Below are are few steps that may help with your install. 1. check the rubber gasket (for bottom bracket) to ensure it is correct for your model JL or JK. 2. Remove the bottom bracket allen bolts (small ones) from hinge to access the larger allen bolt that goes through lower body panel. 3. Put a piece of tape on the back of nut (bottom bracket) before inserting into 13mm socket. Should prevent nut from falling off socket. 4. Align nut in socket with lower panel hole (reaching behind panel with ratchet). 5. Align bottom bracket* allen bolt with panel hole and taped nut. Easier than trying to fish for threads with nut. *Ensure bottom bracket flat side is down 6. Attach bottom bracket hinge with (small) allen bolts. 7. Attach top bracket. 8. Adjust top bracket (up/dpwn) as needed to get secure fit.

> 3 dayReplaced the cheap rubber OEM hood latches with these, no more hood jump. Did the replacement while we replaced the headlights, much easier that way.

12-06-2025So here it goes, not too hard to take off the old ones. Just pull the grill forward and slide socket wrench up from below light(because some people complain it’s too hard). The nuts that came with it need a washer. I installed with what they sent and the nuts were just small enough to slide through the hood(see image). Because I didn’t feel like going to get washers I just took the nuts and attached washers that came with jeep, they fit fine. Tiny complaint, I wasn’t a fan of the Alan wrench design but it does allow for these to be adjusted. I believe someone said that these were “tight”… but they’re adjustable, so it’s a little thing I got over since the product I returned before these was too loose. Lastly, they have the plastic pieces that go under the latch. I didn’t realize until after installing one side that there’s a JK and JL option. It still fits though, I just have one of each on my jeep now. All in all, feels sturdy and looks pretty good. I haven’t driven on the highway yet but it’s metal so I’m assuming hood flutter won’t happen. So I would recommend!

> 3 dayVery nice product. Much needed upgrade from the original latch. The lower section of this latch is difficult to install due to the location of the nut that you have to get to. Your need a socket extension to get to it.

> 3 dayThis does include a very colorful poster style instruction sheet that has extremely vague instructions. For example, the first instruction is: 1. Factory hood latch is made of plastic remove the factory hood latch. And there is a picture of the hood latch locked in place on a closed hood. It neglects to tell you you have to remove the front grill. And you have to navigate a socket wrench from below the headlamp to squeeze it in between the body panel and engine compartment. Tip that i hope will save someone some time and aggravation: the factory nut is a 1/2 inch and comes off pretty easy once you navigate the socket wrench past the headlamps. But my biggest issue is the hex head screws are extremely weak metal. I had not notice the JK specific gaskets and initially installed using the pre-fitted JL gaskets. I was able to remove one mount but the second mount screw stripped the hex. Of course it is too low clearance to reach in behind so Im stick with a 70% tighten screw that wont come out nor go back in. Wasnt using anything more that a standard socket wrench and the included hex key and yet the screw rounded out. After over an hour trying various method to remove the screw I eventually gave up and just dealt with the passenger side lower mount being slightly loose. I may someday use the screw extractor to get it out but for now it works fine and the JL gasket works well enough. All that being said the mounts are good construction (except the weak screw head mentioned above). The hood latches tightly and no move windblown hood bounces at +55mph. Looks sharp too, just mildly irritating that I cant affix the a proper gasket and tighten it up.

> 3 dayThis hood latch didn’t fit the hood on my Jeep. I have a Rubicon X with the different hood (see image) and my hood has a large indent where the latch sits. My husband couldn’t get these latches to adjust to properly fit. So they’ll be going to his brother (other Jeep in the picture) since they seem like good quality.
