Pros: The suction power is incredible! Hair does not wrap around the roller!!! I have 4 dogs in my house and vacuum every day, so this is a big plus! There is no bad smell as a result of odor neutralizer, also a big plus. The lift-away is always handy. It has three height levels for the rollers. Easy to empty. Cons: There is no brush on the end of the crevice tool. I am using the crevice tool with brush from my old Shark vacuum. There is no headlight on the end of the wand making it difficult to see what I am vacuuming under and behind furniture. It is a bit stiff in maneuverability but I am making myself believe that it is due to the incredible suction power.

I wasn’t planning to get a new vacuum cleaner, but I changed my mind after I noticed a significant defect in our old one. I do the overall floor vacuuming and mopping in our house each week. For the last 6 or 7 years I’ve been using my Bissell, “lift-off” vacuum. I’ve been pleased with it and would’ve given it a “4 Star” rating. My only complaint was that I had to secure my brush attachment with a bungy cord, otherwise—if I hit a bump—the brush would just fall off. I also had to hold the electric cord in place with a clothespin. But other than that, I was quite satisfied with the performance. I recently bought an Oreck, “Orbiter,” floor polisher from Amazon, so I could better clean our hardwood floors. However, I also learned the unit could be used on carpets as well. For that you spread a cleaning powder over the carpet surface and then work it into the material with the Orbiter. After that you vacuum up the powder—which captures the dirt—and the job is done. That’s how it’s supposed to work. However, once I started vacuuming with my Bissell, I noticed there was a fine mist of powder leaking from a variety of areas on my unit. I could see white powder going into my dust cup, but it was also circulating into the air around me. I had watched videos online showing the Orbiter being used like this and then being vacuumed up with no problem. What was wrong here? I won’t go into my struggles looking for an answer, but eventually I decided to try using another vacuum we have. A few years ago, my wife bought a Shark, “Navigator,” vacuum cleaner, because she thought the Bissell was too heavy and noisy. I do most of the vacuuming, but she likes to touch up areas when necessary. My wife bought this after getting rave reviews from her mom and sister. I actually never used it because I had my routine down with the Bissell. Anyway, I decided to get the Shark and try my luck. I was pleasantly surprised when the Shark sucked up the powder and kept all of it in the dust cup. Problem solved. I was very impressed with the Navigator and started using it to do the whole house. However, I made the mistake ($) of checking out the Shark website and saw what upgrades were available. I actually did a lot of research via YouTube on Shark Vacuums and decided I really wanted a Vertex. I monitored the Shark website for possible sales and finally saw a good value on the Vertex model. I checked Amazon and noted they had the same “limited time deal” on the Vertex, so I ordered one immediately. By the way—when I checked the next day—the sale was already over. I know this is a long story, but I wanted to emphasize the importance of getting a superior filtering system. One of the videos I saw on YouTube was titled, “Don’t Buy a Cheap Vacuum.” One of the major points made was that everybody should spend enough money to get a “sealed” filtration system. Now I realized my Bissell must’ve been releasing invisible dust all these years. Yuck. Now I didn’t like my old vacuum very much at all. Anyway, I received my Vertex and used it yesterday and today (5/7/21). You know…I’m embarrassed to admit how much I like this machine and how excited I was to be getting it. The first day I worked on three bedrooms with carpets, two bathrooms with tile, and a hard floor hallway. For the record, I vacuum at least once a week and I’ve been using the Navigator for the past two weeks. However, after a normal run-through with the Vertex, the dust cup was full of crud—most of which—must have come from the carpets. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve never seen that much dirt come out of one vacuuming session and I had only done about one half of the house. It must’ve been pulled out of the carpets, because I know the floors can’t get that dirty. I know this review is too long, so I’ll just say that I really appreciate everything about this vacuum. The suction power is great. It handles easily and although I always wear ear plugs—my wife says it’s not too loud. There are plenty of informative videos about Shark vacuums on YouTube. If you’re considering getting a Vertex, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    Greater than one week

Ive been using this vacuum cleaner for a few months now and I have zero complaints. Powerful suction and the liftaway capability is wonderful. And - no hair wrapped around the beater bar! I have long hair and with my previous vacuums, it would get wrapped around the beater bar, which was a huge pain to remove. Because of the way this vacuum is designed... no wrapped hair! I know that doesnt sound like a big deal but if you have people in your family with long hair, you know what I mean! Very pleased with my purchase.

This vacuum has a lot of nice features and is easy to use. It cleans very well. My only critique is that it is a bit clumsy to use and heavier than what you would think.

Long story short: I highly recommend this vacuum. I am in love with it. So much love. All the love. Long story long: My Dyson broke and cost too much to repair (1). Commence my deep dive into all the vacuums: cost, quality, availability near me here in Alaska (2). I decided to go with this shark and hallelujah!! It is working well on all the rugs, carpets, tile, and even occasionally on the hard wood floors (3). Let me back up and say that I love a clean home. I NEED a clean home. I also love chaos (4); Single mom, two bio babies-turned toddlers-turned big kids (5), teenage foster boys, grownup foster kiddos returning home during the pandemic, quarantines galore, neighborhood kids in and out, and two mini-poodle puppies including one litter of puppies. My bedroom carpet was, by my standards, epically disgusting. I splurged and got a professional carpet cleaner. They came and went and I was not impressed. I vacuumed as soon as I could. AND LOOK!!!! No more than 24 hours after the professional carpet cleaners came this vacuum got all that nasty business up in just that tiny little area. And they were 24 kid free hours! The end. 1) Lesson learned: I get my own vacuum and the kids have another vacuum. Theirs is much cheaper. 2) While I try as much as possible to shop local, I can not deny the time and money Jeff can save me. 3) If you’re judging me for using it on my hardwood floors then we are not friends. 4) *Loved chaos. Working really hard to quit it. 5) Now 6 & 10 years old.

I’ve owned or used all the major brands over the years and have even owned two Kirby brand vacuums. This is so much better. Easier to empty than a Dyson. Better for hardwood floors than any other, it doesn’t kick out bits to the side or leave anything behind like my Dyson stick did. Better for carpet/rugs because unlike many vacuums you have a bleed valve that allows for pile height or backing. The ease of use and multiple ways to configure means I can actually vacuum my hardwood stairs, get underneath the beds, and in corners without stoping and starting. I love the mini rotating tool, it gets the pet hair and doesn’t clog. This vacuum can do it all. I may get another for upstairs just so I don’t have to carry it up and down, although it isn’t a problem because it isn’t too heavy (throwing shade at you Kirby)

I rarely write reviews, but I am so impressed with this vacuum that it has to be done! I have two Australian Shepherd pups and two children under the age of 10. My house always has dirt tracked in and all other sorts of messes are constantly being made. I have a brand new carpet, and hardwood floors and this vacuum does it all! After going through two cheap vacuums in the last year, I decided to splurge on this Shark. I compared and read reviews on several different brands and models before deciding on this one and I can honestly say that I couldn’t be happier! A few of my favorite things about this vacuum and comments to the pictures I included. The first picture I posted shows a small area of my room that I vacuumed. As you can see the amount of dog hair and dust that it collected was mind blowing! In addition, there’s an extra trap that caught a necklace my son made without damaging or getting caught in the rollers. I finished vacuuming my room, and found no hair had attached to the rollers. This is a huge deal for me (and a big reason I splurged on this vacuum) because I despised cleaning and cutting hair out of the rollers every time with previous vacuums. With the power lift option and powered hand attachment, I was able to clean my carpeted stairs with ease. It has incredible suction and devoured the dog hair and crumbs embedded deep within my couches. It’s absolutely magical and has made cleaning house so much easier. No dust, debris, or odors using this vacuum. You will not be disappointed!

Got this to replace our Dyson. We have 4 cats and a German shepherd. This thing is awesome and being able to take it apart allowed me to vacuum under beds that had years of hair built up underneath. And the febreez scent that it puts out while vacuuming is great. Definitely recommend.
