    Greater than one week

Yes they are expensive, but if you consider the price of a plumber or the time it takes to sweat copper, these are a must have. Or maybe Im just lazy...either way, I love these.

Wow! Copper to PEX connection in about 30 seconds. Be sure to push it in all the way! Used separate marking tool to be sure.

Works every time, unlike my soldering. As a homeowner these are a godsend - can do fixes, addition stuff without a plumber.

I needed this put into a tight 3 x6 area above my head. I tried several times to push the unit into place on the copper pipes. It leaked each time I retried to tighten it. I ended up removing it & used CPVC 3/4 elbows & pipe & converted it outside to Copper 3/4 with adapters. This unit does work great if you have the room to work it into place, but in tight places you should consider using copper & solder if you can.

I had to replace a water heater that was in a cramped under counter location in an older condo. I have never had the greatest success with brazing copper fittings -- nothing is worse than a pinhole leak after to turn the water back on except perhaps the fire you start with your torch. This fitting (and all the sharkbite fittings I used in the job, including tees, elbows, push fittings ball valve, flexible water heater connectors and more) connected in a literal snap to both copper and PEX pipe, were leak free and saved my day in a job that had me cutting wallboard to access and connect to a drain pipe (due to new city code that requires a drain pan attached to a drain), adding an expansion tank (again due to new city code requirement) that didnt fit in the space allotted for the water heater so I had to run pipe through a kitchen cabinet to the tank which was put under the kitchen sink). I would never have attempted this job if I had had to braze copper. I did reuse some of the prior copper pipe (after cleaning 15 years of junk off) and new PEX pipe. The best part is that replacing the water heater in the future should be a snap/unsnap process with these great fittings. Note -- I bought most of my parts at Home Depot for similar or lower prices for the sake of convenience as well as easy return of unused items.

when you need to save time , and not sure youll redo the job. always go with sharkbite.

Easily connect pipe in seconds with the SharkBite Push to Connect 90 Degree Elbow. This 90 degree angle coupling elbow joins copper, PEX, CPVC, HDPE, or PE-RT pipe in any combination. With no soldering, clamps, or glue required, connections are as simple as inserting a pipe into the fitting deep enough to be sealed by the specially-designed O-ring. Once inserted, the fitting"s stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe. Disassembly is just as easy with the SharkBite disconnect tool. The SharkBite Elbow Joint is designed for potable water and radiant heating applications (including underground or behind-the-wall applications) with no access panels required.

From the Manufacturer

SharkBite is the push-fit connection system that"s really taking hold. It"s the easiest way to join copper, CPVC or PEX pipe in any combination - with no soldering, clamps, unions or glue. Just insert the pipe and the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect seal. Disassembly is just as fast using the simple disconnect tool. So fittings and valves can be easily changed and reused. They can even be rotated after assembly for easier installation in tight spaces. Get SharkBite, and get a grip on your next plumbing project. These fittings are lead free and meet all requirements for plumbing in California and Vermont.
