> 24 hourThis is the final word on whether or not SK HYNIX NVME will work on the Mac Pro 5,1. I have 3 of them working right now. The 2tb came with the updated firmware. The other sizes, you will need to download the firmware from the manufacturer. Im getting 6,000 read/write speed using a HighPoint SSD7101-A with a 3 count.

> 24 hourIf you plan to expand or clone your current drive then you need buy or find a software that will clone your drive. The thing is Samsung comes with the software for free and it’s super easy to clone using the Samsung software. This ssd also runs extremely hot. I would recommend the Samsung one when it goes on sale.

> 24 hourBEST NVME Drives you can buy. Bought several 1TB and 500GB for different PC builds, most using PCIE adapters for upgrading old PCs that dont have the NVME slots on the motherboard. Every single one has speeds beyond specs, (read usually around 3520-3550, and write around 3200-3500). I use most for gaming and some for big quick data transfers. all seem to have no wear and tear over 6 months. No issues at all with any Drives. Could not be happier.

> 24 hourSo my husband told me I should get this to expand my computers memory by double. He said SSD cards are really easy to install. I got this and planned on him to install it. He goes to install it and plugs it into the SSD cord internally, but the computer wont start! He tinkers with a few things and it still wont, so we figured it broke and he removes this SSD card from the SSD slot. A few days later on a whim I start the computer and its working back to normal, without the SSD card in it. A couple weeks later all is still going well so we try the SSD card again thinking it was something else that did that to the computer. Well, same thing... my computer wont turn on, with or without the SSD card in the slot! Im crossing my fingers and hoping after resting a few days again that itll work. The only reason Im not giving this a 1 star is because I decided to look further into the issue this time and it turns out THIS IS NOT A NORMAL SSD CARD! This is a M2 and does not hook up where a normal SSD card does. And my computer doesnt have the proper place to hook a M2 up to. So... if you are thinking this is like any other SSD card, think again. And be very careful if you dont really know what you are doing or you might end up with no computer!
