> 3 dayGosund advertises its products as being both Alexa / Google and Apple compatible. Smart plugs aren’t. It’s either / or. Do not buy from their app, which will bombard you with ads. They stone wall on returns and ignore their false advertising. Buy through Amazon so you can use Amazon returns.

Greater than one weekI used to be one of those people who did not think I would ever want, need, or use a smart plug, but boy was I wrong. These smart plugs are easy to setup with Alexa and begin working very quickly. I have one connected to our outdoor patio lights. While I am carrying the puppy out in the morning and unlocking the doors I say, Alexa turn on the patio lights. By the time I slide the doors open the lights are on. The are perfect to use on these types of items. For instance, fish tank lights. Instead of having to either hit the switch or plug them in, just use a smart plug. I guarantee once you get one and try it, you will be hooked. I highly recommend.

> 3 dayIve had good luck with Meross/Refoss (really the same entity) this year with my forays into home automation. I found that these work very well at fast setup for certain use cases. For me, the use cases for smart plugs like this revolve around situations where you want a plug-in appliance to turn on/off but thats about it. In other words, if youre looking to set up moods with lighting or anything more than a simple on/off, these wont work and youre better off with a smart light bulb. For a simple I want this lamp to turn on and thats it then this is your easy solution. Pairing is done within the Home app and takes about two minutes. My main nit with this product is that, occasionally, the product will become unavailable for some reason in Home and it acts like it has lost network connection. Unplugging from the wall and plugging it back in corrects the error, but it is still a bit annoying. I think this is a Meross issue, as I have the same periodic issues with the smart light switches and garage door opener. Even at that, these are quite a bit cheaper than the alternatives from the large brands, and they work well even given the apparent network drops. A very easy way to begin home automation.

> 3 dayI have been all in on the smarthome since late 2017 when I bought my first connected speaker and just kept going from there. I have been moving everything over to HomeKit since last year and now most of my devices live inside the Home app on iOS and Mac. I believe that it is the best smarthome platform IF you care about privacy and collection of your personal data. If you dont care about that, then HomeKit is probably the worst platform, it has far fewer devices compatible with the ecosystem than Google or Alexa. Not to mention, it has a high cost of entry thanks to Apple products not being very affordable. I had a little trouble connecting this to my main network, its the first devices Ive tried to add to the Home app since my Eeros got the update that gave them support for HomeKit router compatibility. I tried and tried and could not get them to connect. I think this was my fault because I had WPA3 turned on and forgot to enable legacy mode for devices like these plugs that only support the 2.4GHz band. But after turning off WPA3 and putting the Eero Pro 6 routers into the right mode, they connected almost instantly. Since then, they have been working well with no problems using them from inside my home, or when Im out and connecting remotely. This is how HomeKit works, its a little different than Alexa, where your smart speaker calls out to the internet to control devices, regardless of if youre on your home WiFI network or not. I didnt test these plugs with anything except HomeKit, I just dont trust the other smarthome platforms anymore and try not to use them if I can help it. The Home app can really be a pain sometimes, but its designed with security in mind and that sometimes has to trump convenience. One thing to mention, despite these plugs being sold as Refoss brand, in my Home app, they show up as Meross which is another very similar brand with similar products to Refoss. It may be that both are owned by the same company. Great plugs for use with Apple HomeKit, and very affordable considering how much some HomeKit accessories can cost.

Greater than one weekThis is 2nd HomeKit product that I ordered during the prime day sales that simply will not work with my Eero routers. They need to remove the HomeKit licensing and badging from this product. I’m literally sick of wasting time trying to get poorly designed products based on long outdated technologies still being allowed to be certified for HomeKit, Google Home and Alexa when they cannot even join our wifi networks. A wifi device that can’t connect to wifi is absolutely useless. Absolute garbage and a waste of my time. It’s a shame because now I’m 100% not going to buy any Meross/Refoss thread devices when they launch. Terrible first impression.
