> 24 hourThis POE switch caught my eye for its superior specs at a very nice price. Its well built with a metal housing, fanless cooling and simple setup. It has 4 POE Gigabit ports and 2 Gigabit uplink ports. There is a switch for normal operation, vlan operation and extended operation (longer than normal runs from switch to device). I swapped this in for a switch connecting 2 WiFi access points. It worked flawlessly. This switch provided POE operation at the price of a standard 4 or 5 port 10/100/1000 switch. My one concern with fanless operation is the air circulation around the switch. Since this is essentially a desktop switch I would have expected to receive rubber or silicone feet to attach to the bottom of the switch to allow airflow all around the switch. Since they didnt come with feet, I put 1/2 diameter self stick silicone feet on the 4 corners before installing it. Overall a great value for a 4 port POE Gigabit switch.

> 24 hourVery simple to setup as an unmanaged switch to add POE devices to your network. I used this to add to my home network and setup a simple poe network. It works great and requires no additional setup other than the switches on it.

> 24 hourHad just added some wireless network extenders to the house. Bought one of these and wired it between LAN and the wireless extender, desk top computer and wireless printer out. Running a speed check on computer the Ping dropped considerably and network speed of computer more than doubled to close to 1GBS up and down. Great value.

> 24 hourSo if you like me and you run a decently large network with a lot of ubiquity devices you end up with a whole bunch of POE injectors to put electricity into the CAT5 cables for the far-flung devices. With this device I was able to get rid of all of them simply plugging those devices into this network switch allowing this network switch to provide the power for any device that needs it. It really did clean up my networking closet.

> 24 hourThe SODOLA 16 Port Gigabit switch is an unmanaged ethernet networking switch with excellent features for it’s design and price range. Firstly, the unit is constructed of metal, giving it the sturdiness customary of business and prosumer networking equipment. This helps not only with rigidity, but with heat dissipation, as the design is fanless. It comes with the needed brackets and screws to attach it to either a network rack or to wall-mount it. It also comes with the requisite power cable, and instruction manual. I was delighted to see that it includes more screws than are strictly necessary, giving you suitable spares if one of the tiny buggers goes missing. The instructions are sparse, but more than sufficient for the type of device in question. For an unmanaged switch, this unit has some handy features. Firstly, it has loop detection, allowing you to recognize certain types of network misconfiguration. It also has a passive QoS (Quality of Service) feature, which processes the network traffic of devices connected to the first 8 ports on the unit over other ports. The allows you to connect your VoIP phones, PCs, servers, or other time-critical devices to these prioritized ports, leaving the others for less sensitive uses, such as game consoles. The switch also has a VLAN function, allowing you to isolate devices from one another on the first 14 ports. Lastly, the switch features an “extended mode” function. This allows you to sacrifice speed to allow a cable run of much longer than would ordinarily be possible while maintaining stability. The VLAN and Extend functions are easily toggled via a physical switch on the front of the unit. Beyond that, you have the traditional ethernet port arrangement and a single power connector. After several days of use, I can report that the unit is completely silent, and cool to the touch. This is with the switch loaded to 1/2 capacity. Speeds are reliably snappy and at the reported gigabit rates. SODOLA is a new name to me in the networking space, but they’ve designed a switch that offers 16 ports and additional features seldom seen on unmanaged equipment at a price typically reserved for smaller 5 or 8 port switches. This makes it a fantastic value for the price. The only remaining question would be one of longevity, but given the relatively cool running temperatures, I don’t expect any issues. While it would have been nice to have some smaller brackets included specifically for wall-mounting (the included rack-mount brackets are unnecessarily long when wall-mounting, I’m extremely pleased with this device.

> 24 hourThis switch has a premium feel to and setup was completely painless. Just plug in and go. I am using this switch to power two Ubiquiti access points and one added PC without and issues. The bandwidth and connection are solid so far. Two thing I really like about this device are the metal chassis and built in power supply. When you plug in, you do not have to deal with another big bully plug, just a simple two prong. Its a great design and the added POE at this price is a great deal.

> 24 hourExactly what a network switch is supposed to do - plug it in, plug in the components, and it just works. Perfectly! I was having issues expanding my in-home network while wiring another router at the other end of the house to have both hard-wired network as well as expanded wifi coverage with a second router. Some components did fine, but my addressable security camera didnt want to pass through the router. So I added this switch between the 2 routers, moving the components and router to be plugged into this switch at the other side of the house. Now everything works great! The cameras work now since they are on the same subnet, as the switch is just passing through and adding ports. TV, PC and other router work great as well. RECOMMENDED

> 24 hourNice for just a few devices...probably makes the most sense for those with POE devices (say, 2-3 security cams), or wants a VLAN setup. SOLIDLY made.

> 24 hourLots of ports, would be more useful if the auto speed negotiation worked a bit better. Bringing the link up is a little slow, takes about 4 seconds when plugging in a new cable. I couldnt get everything to connect at gigabit speeds, though. It connected gigabit to another switch, and to a raspberry pi, but I could not get 3 other USB gigabit adapters to connect higher than 100mb. That makes it less useful to me than it would be otherwise. They are confirmed working at gigabit speed with a other switches. If you look at the photo, you can see the white cable is showing 100mb, the blue is showing gig, and the yellow is showing gig. The white cable is going to a USB gig adapter (most laptops dont have network jacks anymore), the blue goes to a Raspberry Pi model 4, and the yellow is going to another switch on the uplink port. For the price, you should probably take a pass.

> 24 hourI know that most people view technology like switches as old, well established, technology that is hard to mess up. But trust me, I have tried some really bad PoE switches recently. The one this switch is replacing was advertised as a 10/100/1000 but I could never get anything to connect to it faster than 100mbps. This one, connected at full duplex 1gbps without any issues. My whole network feels completely fresh and my headless server that I remote into is finally able to be used with the full gui versus just ssh. Recommended for an advanced home network or a small business.
