> 3 dayVery disappointed in this product. I purchased this tester to verify polarity of some gfci outlets. I wanted to try it out, so I first plugged it in to a known, working, and verified gfi circuit in our kitchen. Both orange indicator lights are illuminated, so good to go. I then pushed the test button. The gfci outlet tripped as expected so I reset the outlet. I then pulled the tester from the socket. This is where the problem is...while pulling out, a direct short of some type happened within the tester. There was a pop/flash/smoke and the 15 amp breaker tripped. There was black soot on the ground plug of the tester. Now, when I plug in the tester, the red and orange indicators are on (faintly) indicating the ground and hot wires are backwards. This is not correct. The short damaged something within the tester. I also noticed the ground plug is a little loose. I will be returning the tester and probably buy an Amprobe or Klein product.

> 3 dayGood to have around the shop or house when you need to see if something is wrong with the outlet. Likely something good to have around in general.

> 3 dayDoes what it says and Ive used it constantly while doing remodel work. Makes it easy for the girlfriend to tell me when I find the right breaker without dragging a lamp around the house. Also assists in finding miss wired outlets.

> 3 dayIve read the complaints about the small print (which indicates error messages), but in normal cases homes should be wired up properly. All you really have to remember is the message indicating a correctly wired socket. If you do not get the proper message, THEN take the time to figure out what is wrong.
