My pod was really enjoying Wingspan but the ending was getting dull as we would all too often just buy eggs on every turn of the final round. With Oceania, egg powers are diminished a bit and replaced by far more paths to victory in the form of different bonuses, end of game goals, more bonus cards, and nectar. Weve routinely had very close games where different people used completely different strategies. The new cards, eggs, and playing surfaces will fit into the original Wingspan box as long as you remove the components you no longer need with Oceania. Im not sure if you could also fit the European expansion or not. Contrary to what another reviewer wrote, none of us found the new nectar food type to be overpowered, although we did agree with the instruction book suggestion to remove the 2 raven cards from the deck when playing the expansion. Instead, we found the game to ultimately be more balanced and refined than the original. If you do play this and feel like nectar is overpowered, just be sure you are properly discarding unused nectar after each round and that youve read the scoring instructions carefully.

First of all: purple eggs! European is a nice expansion to the Wingspan game. Some additional bird powers and more birds that you might not be as familiar with. Absolutely recommend playing with the expansions! While this expansion adds to the game somewhat, it really doesnt change it too much. Just gives you a little more. The round-end bird powers are great! The Oceania expansion, to me, makes the game a lot more fun. A lot more cards get used, the addition of game-end bird powers is nice too. The regular bird powers are more interesting too. They really give you the ability to acquire a lot more food, cards and eggs. Love the addition of the nectar - another way to earn more points and do more things. I cant imagine playing the game anymore without the Oceania expansion! Highly recommend!

A lot of people dont like nectar as it speeds the game up. In a lot of ways that kind of thought process is unfair, because what it REALLY does is mitigate bad draws and bad rolls. It does make the game faster, but the game is overall a better game for the changes. Plus....birbs. Also, I dont know what Im rating with the thickness rating I was asked to provide.

We love playing with this expansion. We have had many hours of fun!

We found, after playing the original Wingspan for a while, that in the fourth round, it was really only beneficial to use the egg-laying function. This expansion makes the forest and the wetlands more desirable and changes game play. I would get both expansions. Play this one a few times, then add Oceania.

I love this expansion. so often expansions add unneeded complexity to a game, but this just adds more flavor (and more strategic options). the new birds and bird powers are great and we are so excited for the next one!

we bought both expansions because we loved the original game and we couldnt be happier with them. the extra rules were really easy to adjust to.

This is hands down the best game Ive ever played with just two players. The expansion is very well balanced and actually helped equal things out between my husband and I. Of course you can play with more players, but this game plays really well with two people. The design in the game in beautiful and the additions are fun and different! I highly recommend adding this expansion to the regular game to add in even more fun!

Love this game and this expansion just adds so much more to it. The variety of birds and more goals is great!

Nectar is a wild resource which really just makes the game too easy. Should have never added this to the game. Stick with Wingspan and the first expansion... dont get this
