Stonemaier Games: Wingspan Oceania Expansion, Includes New Player Mats and a Food Type, 40 to 70 Minute Play Time, 1 to 5 Players, For Ages 14 and up

We found, after playing the original Wingspan for a while, that in the fourth round, it was really only beneficial to use the egg-laying function. This expansion makes the forest and the wetlands more desirable and changes game play. I would get both expansions. Play this one a few times, then add Oceania.

The Oceania Expansion is a fantastic addition to my base game Wingspan. This expansion adds a new set of bird cards, new player mats, and additional gameplay mechanics that deepen the games strategy and replayability. I created my own game pieces for a better experience as well. The Oceania expansion focuses on bird species found in Australia, New Zealand, and the surrounding islands. The bird cards are beautifully illustrated, as expected from Stonemaier Games, and provide a refreshing and unique look at the birdlife of this region. Each bird card includes information on the birds habitat, diet, and other interesting facts, adding to the educational value of the game. The new player mats offer different strategies and bonuses, adding more variety to the gameplay. The new mechanics include nectar, which allows players to attract and feed hummingbirds, and the Pacific bird species, which have special abilities that make them powerful and unique. It also includes new bonus cards, which give players additional objectives to strive for and earn extra points. The new gameplay mechanics and bonus cards are seamlessly integrated with the existing game mechanics, making for a smooth transition from the base game to the expansion. Like every Stonemaier Games board game, there is Automa mode, which allows solo play by simulating a virtual opponent. This is a fantastic addition for players who want to enjoy the game when they cant find someone to play with. Overall, Stonemaier Games Wingspan Oceania Expansion is a fantastic addition to the Wingspan board game. The new bird cards, player mats, gameplay mechanics, and bonus cards add more depth and variety to an already excellent game. The attention to detail in the artwork and information on the bird cards makes this expansion a must-have for bird enthusiasts and board game enthusiasts.

Beautiful artwork, as with the rest of the game. The new player mats are interesting and significantly change timing and strategy—whether for better, I haven’t yet decided, but not for worse. The new powers are interesting too. Breathes new life into the game if you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have and have grown overly familiar with prior combinations and possible engines.

Nice selection of cards and goals. Would like to have seen some cool accessories that give a player bonus points... perhaps on online way to collect birds via mobile phone snapshot?

Love this game and this expansion just adds so much more to it. The variety of birds and more goals is great!

Adds a good number of new powers. Some are really strong compared to original cards, but mixed evenly, I think it can provide cool ways to plan strategies. Would recommend adding in on second play through at earliest. Learn the basics rules, and then add the slight complexity of the European expansion.

We love Wingspan and this expansion makes the game that much better. A must buy!
