I love switch bot, what started off as getting a small bot to turn on my work laptop before my shift turned into a deep dive into home automation! I bought 2 bots and 2 plugs so far and this even inspired me to buy the hub and an Amazon Alexa device which I never wanted but Ive found to be so useful to turn on my connected devices using Alexa! I absolutely love this and highly recommend, I will be purchasing more in the future.

Wont let me control via bluetooth, wants to connect to my wifi which I am explicitly avoiding as any smarthome app connected to your home network is undoubtedly spyware, why I try to limit. If the seller can explain to me how to do bluetooth only control. I will revise this review but as it stands the plug requires their spyware to have access to my home network, which I find unacceptable.

app is complete garbage, it doesnt work half the time and the plug itself were not working right out of the box.

When it is connected to hub, it works great. Mine occasionally disconnect from SwitchBot hub just 15 feet away. A bit too glitchy. Also, it will not handle a/c window unit 5000 watt. This was the main reason for buying this so when room temperature reached a certain temperature it would turn off/on a/c, but it keeps tripping off. Unless you are going to use it for a fan or light, I don’t recommend buying these smart plugs.

Overload protection trips from 6.5 amps of current I have tried 8 of these and they all do the same thing.

First off, this will only work on WiFi if you’re in the same exact room as your router. If there’s a wall in between the plug and your router, the signal is too weak (meaning they use a ridiculously cheap and inefficient WiFi antennae.) Second, the plus seems to severely reduce the power coming from the wall outlet; either that or the power reading feature is completely inaccurate. I have my iPhone plugged in and charging via 2.0Amp charger; the SwitchBot app says it’s only pulling 0.1A, or about 4Watts, which is not right. I got this smart plug to be able to charge my EBike battery, which uses a 2.0A charger. However, when I use it for that, it’s only pulling 0.1A which is not enough to charge the battery in the time it’s so poised to take. (Takes 10+ hours rather than 5hours, like it does when just charging from my wall outlet). Don’t buy this plug at all, I’ll be returning mine. Thanks for the inconvenience, I guess.

I absolutely love having this around! I have lots of lights that I use for decor and in order to save money on electric I decided to buy this smart plug to set up a routine of when they turn on and off! I can even pair it with my Alexa and turn them off then, it’s inexpensive and has an app that’s easy to use, the company has wonderful customer service as well! Hope you all enjoy it! I sure do!

It doesnt get better than this! Well, better for them- worse for you. The product is cheap because it harvests your private data and ferrets it into their database. You are the product and this is spyware to a level not seen since facebook was introduced. In order to simply switch your plug on and off you need to create an online account, agree to anything and everything in their TOS, give them your wifi password, provide your location whenever you use the app, and when you don’t(!!), agree to marketing emails, navigate past their online store in the app, install a widget and update your device firmware to the latest no doubt network sniffing version. I feel sick. Its a data-grab and theyre taking the maximum possible leveraging your desire to turn a device on and off with a timer. Theyre going to sell your data to everyone and anyone, and if they say they arent that just means whoever buys their company will inherit the database and do it for them. No no no no, no no no. NO. NO. What am I saying? No means no. Hands off my private data. No you cant have my wifi password. No of course you cant follow me around. It absolutely is not your business where my product operates. Im not subscribing to marketing emails and accepting a terms of service in order to use a product I purchased. Its a plug. This is beyond invasive. Imagine going to a hardware store and purchasing a plug splitter only to find a staff member followed you home, and is sitting in a car outside logged into your wifi and waiting for you to leave so they can record your every move. The people you meet, the protests you attend, the stores you shop at, your gynecologist, storage locker, bar, significant other, and other, your office. Would that bother you? ***** On the other hand - if you are willing to totally sacrifice your privacy, the switchbot range of devices do a pretty good job. That is the parts of the app that were designed to serve you and not them.

Company reached out to me and asked if I would consider trying to use it again after they had updated their software. Now I wouldnt know if it works or not, because they ask for more personal information than is necessary for monitoring my refrigerator. I will count this up for a loss and put it in the trash. Original review below. Bought Bluetooth model because I didnt want to use wi-fi. You cannot set it up without Wi-Fi. So I go through the hassle of setting up a Wi-Fi. It will not accept the password. My computer and phone have no issue with the wifi, but device would not accept it. Reconfigured the Wi-Fi to open network. If I still wont configure, still stating password error. After much back and forth with tech support, Im here to say I wouldnt recommend purchasing this.

i love all of the products from switch bot. they are all so compatible and they work so well together. i have issues with connections with smart plugs and devices but this one works so well. 100% would recommend
