> 3 dayThe instructions are not good for working with Alexa. At first I thought you needed a hub despite it was advertised as not needing a hub. After further research I figured out the secret. You have to download the Alexa App and do your final sync and setup there. It now works perfect with Alexa on my Firestick. I think most of the bad reviews are because its not very clear how to do setup for Alexa. I was almost going to give up thinking I need a hub and was ready to leave a bad review.

Greater than one weekIt doesnt get better than this! Well, better for them- worse for you. The product is cheap because it harvests your private data and ferrets it into their database. You are the product and this is spyware to a level not seen since facebook was introduced. In order to simply switch your plug on and off you need to create an online account, agree to anything and everything in their TOS, give them your wifi password, provide your location whenever you use the app, and when you don’t(!!), agree to marketing emails, navigate past their online store in the app, install a widget and update your device firmware to the latest no doubt network sniffing version. I feel sick. Its a data-grab and theyre taking the maximum possible leveraging your desire to turn a device on and off with a timer. Theyre going to sell your data to everyone and anyone, and if they say they arent that just means whoever buys their company will inherit the database and do it for them. No no no no, no no no. NO. NO. What am I saying? No means no. Hands off my private data. No you cant have my wifi password. No of course you cant follow me around. It absolutely is not your business where my product operates. Im not subscribing to marketing emails and accepting a terms of service in order to use a product I purchased. Its a plug. This is beyond invasive. Imagine going to a hardware store and purchasing a plug splitter only to find a staff member followed you home, and is sitting in a car outside logged into your wifi and waiting for you to leave so they can record your every move. The people you meet, the protests you attend, the stores you shop at, your gynecologist, storage locker, bar, significant other, and other, your office. Would that bother you? ***** On the other hand - if you are willing to totally sacrifice your privacy, the switchbot range of devices do a pretty good job. That is the parts of the app that were designed to serve you and not them.

> 3 dayThis plug works exactly as described in that you can both turn the outlet on and off via app through wifi or Bluetooth, and through wifi using your preferred smart assistant (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc). The other fearure, which I was even more interested in, is the ability to detect and record the power usage of what is plugged into it. Unfortunately, the one I received was able to turn on and off remotely, but it would not detect power usage. I contacted customer service, and after getting information from me about the situation, their techs decided the power detection component was faulty and sent me a new unit. The new one has worked perfectly for over a week now, and I have found the power usage detection very useful.

> 3 dayForget the stories of it being intrusive. It simply doesnt work and the company simply doesnt care. Two days of kids running the TV and the device shows ZERO power usage! I would say this goes beyond inaccurate. So I write to customer service their FAQ states. Two days later, I get an answer that they will pass it along to the tech team for further assistance. How many days will that be? I can answer for me... none. Its being boxed up now for return. ***Update. They wrote back finally a few days after offering to send a replacement for free. It took weeks but I got it and so far, this one works actually. I will follow up and raise it more if it is working after a week or two. They made me wait, so they can too.

> 3 dayThis plug is completely unreliable. Some days it works, other days it does not. Buy from a different company. I’m totally disappointed. I bought 3 of these and they are all inconsistent. Trash product, waste of money.

> 3 dayHavent used switchbot products before and this is my first foray into them. Ive been wanting to supplement my VESYNC/Etekcity smartplug for a long time ... teseted some Tuya/Smartlife plugs that I found a little basic compared to my Vesync one. Finally decided to get these switchbot ones since they were rated for 15A. So far, Im not too impressed with the plug. It has been going into overload protection with the dehumidifier that I have plugged in drawing ~675 watts and 5.5amps. Initially, I thought it was a fluke and powered the plug back on. But, it did it again 3 times over the course of last night. My vesync and tuya plug, neither one did this and they have overload protection as well. My thinking is that these plugs are all made in China anyway, why is the sb one so sensitive (Ive had my dehumidifier running on the vesync for over 2 months without issue).

> 3 dayAs always, with Switch-Bot devices, the setup was very easy. I am now able to control most any kind of device and monitor the energy (amps & watts) used by that device at the moment and over time. I was also able to use the Switch-Bot API to integrate this Mini Plug into my home automation system so it can turn things on when other conditions are met an I can collect the usage data to chart usage over time. This device is more affordable than many of the other remote control devices used in my system.

> 3 dayIncredibly inaccurate. I have a computer with an i7-4790k CPU and a GTX 1070 GPU, a combination which should be pulling well over 300 Watts from the wall when both are at full load. I ran a stress test to max out the power draw from my computer and this smart plug claimed my entire computer was running off 50 Watts. At idle it claimed my desktop computer uses 10 Watts. Anybody who knows gaming computers knows how ridiculous these numbers sound. Additionally I have a lamp with a 23 Watt bulb in it, the SwitchBot claimed this lamp was pulling 6.5 Watts from the wall. Update: I returned the SwitchBot and bought a Poniie PN1500 for nearly the same price. The PN1500 measured just over 300 Watts when stress testing my CPU/GPU at max load, and measured 24 Watts from the wall to run my 23 Watt light bulb. Much happier with my PN1500, with the caveat that my use case was exclusively to measure power consumption and I didnt care about the smart plug feature.

Greater than one weekThe Switchbot Smart Plug Minis are a great value when you buy two. I paid less than ten dollars each. They also do more than other smart plugs I have. I love the energy monitor feature. I can control them with my Echo Dot, or my Google Hub, which is important. They integrate well into the other smart home products I bought previously.
