> 3 dayThe timer feature turns on but does not turn off the device. Isn’t this device supposed to work when I’m not at home?

> 3 dayIve owned 49 of these SwitchBot plugs since they were released just over a month ago. I also own dozens of plugs from various manufacturers, like TP-Link, Sonoff, BN-Link, Emporia, etc. These plugs are, by far, my favorite. I have one plugged into just about every outlet in my house, where reasonable. Heres some of my key highlights that differentiate these plugs from all the junk online: - The build quality is outstanding. There are no seams or otherwise weird manufacturing quirks on any of my plugs. While aesthetics of a smart plug arent particularly important, I wouldnt be comfortable trusting a no-name brand plug with a poor exterior to have safe internals. SwitchBot really surprised me with the quality as soon as I picked up my first plug, and I was happy to find no defects on any of my 50. - They work cloud-free, if necessary. Many of the plugs on Amazon rely on their proprietary app and proprietary online API, rendering the plugs entirely useless if their company no longer supports them. After setting up these plugs, they continue to work without internet directly over Bluetooth, with few functional compromises. Although most smart plugs on the market are currently ESP based (which is an IoT Bluetooth/WiFi module), many of them only utilize the WiFi features after setup. SwitchBot ensured the longevity of their product by allowing it to work in-app over Bluetooth. - Theyre accurate out of the box. In my lab, I was able to measure each plugs reported metrics with a calibrated test load and against a calibrated power meter. I found the device itself to consume 0.6-0.9 W on average, and measure the calibrated load accurately down to a tenth of a Watt. Extremely good quality, considering some plugs off Amazon measure 5-10 watts off, out of the box. Some stuff for the advanced users: these work great with Tasmota, allowing you to utilize Home Assistant / whatever setup your smart home already uses, finetune the calibration, disable the toggle button, disable the bluetooth, etc. All in all, SwitchBot took the existing smart plug market and designed a plug that outperforms the competitors at a price point that blows them out of the water. They work amazingly out of the box and can also be better tweaked with third party software like Tasmota.

> 3 dayThis plug is completely unreliable. Some days it works, other days it does not. Buy from a different company. I’m totally disappointed. I bought 3 of these and they are all inconsistent. Trash product, waste of money.

13-06-2025The instructions are difficult to understand. They just don’t make sense. I somehow ended up setting the plug to come on at 3am for two hours. I needed it set at 2pm for 3 hours. It can’t take multiple settings and I can’t figure out how to make it work correctly. I’m normally pretty tech savvy but this has me stumped. Not worth the time to keep trying to figure it out.

> 3 dayThis plug works exactly as described in that you can both turn the outlet on and off via app through wifi or Bluetooth, and through wifi using your preferred smart assistant (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc). The other fearure, which I was even more interested in, is the ability to detect and record the power usage of what is plugged into it. Unfortunately, the one I received was able to turn on and off remotely, but it would not detect power usage. I contacted customer service, and after getting information from me about the situation, their techs decided the power detection component was faulty and sent me a new unit. The new one has worked perfectly for over a week now, and I have found the power usage detection very useful.

Greater than one weekI absolutely love having this around! I have lots of lights that I use for decor and in order to save money on electric I decided to buy this smart plug to set up a routine of when they turn on and off! I can even pair it with my Alexa and turn them off then, it’s inexpensive and has an app that’s easy to use, the company has wonderful customer service as well! Hope you all enjoy it! I sure do!

> 3 dayI am really enjoying these Mini Plugs. I got these to replace iHome plugs that the company stopped supporting. The majority of my smart devices are Z-Wave and Zigbee but for those that dont have a smart hub Switchbot is a good option since the plugs connect directly to cloud via Wifi. They can also be managed via bluetooth if the cloud connection is not available. I recently transitioned from Wink Hub 2 to SmartThings. Switchbot plugs have a direct integration with SmartThings, when you add the plugs to the Switchbot App they will be available for control and automations in SmartThings. I find that operation of the plugs is just as fast as my local control devices. The only drawback is if the cloud goes down then the plugs are only controllable via bluetooth which is much slower. Each plug tracks energy consumption whoever in SmartThings you can only see energy consumption the power meter isnt populated. The Switchbot app provides additional power details: Power, Current, Voltage, Historical Usage. If you use the Switchbot hub these will also integrate with it, so these plugs give you several options for control that other plugs dont provide. Even though I prefer local control (Z-Wave and Zigbee) I am enjoying these plugs as an additional option... and they are priced well.

Greater than one weekThis smart plug was so easy to install and configure. It took moments to unbox, plug in, add to the SwitchBot app and sync with Google Home (sorry Alexa). There is a manual button on the side and the switch feels very solid. You can even go nuts and use an NFC tag to easily automate this (and other SwitchBot) smart devices. Really happy with the plug so far.
