Strong, pleasing scent that fades in a very rich foam. The product lathers quickly and is thick, sticking around plenty long enough to complete your shave. Ive been using Castle Forbes and find this product to be on par for less money.

This quickly became my favorite shave soap. Lathers well and smells great. Also has a nice cooling sensation. I have sensitive skin and have not had any negative reactions in the 10+ times Ive already used it.

I have ordered this three or four times. Usually love the very peppermint scent. Last time the scent was different. I still had the tub from my last order- it was about to run out- so that I could compare. The new batch was chemically smelling. I returned it. Will probably try again in the future but not now. Let the bad batch run out first.

I use a safety razor every 2 days and I have been pleased with this shaving cream. Most creams this thick gum up and prevent the razor from getting close enough to the skin. This one doesnt. The consistency is adjustable from a thick layer for long hair to a thin layer (that still sticks!) for a reverse pass. The peppermint smell is strong but natural.

After trying this, I personally think that it is a little over rated and a little over priced. I will not purchase this again, though I do not regret buying it and may consider trying some of the other products in their lineup. Also, this is a cream, and I am more of a soap person come to find out. The Good: First of all, this stuff absorbs A TON of water, which means a small dab will make A LOT of lather. I love the smell of peppermint, and the scent is good on this product. The lather that it does make is very thick and provides cushion. The Bad: Though peppermint smells great, I found it to be a little irritating on my skin. If you have sensative skin, you may want to stay away. I can not seem to get the lather slick enough for my taste. So between that and the peppermint oil causing some irritation I can easily get razor burn while using this product that I do not experience with other soaps and creams. Now since I like shaving soaps better I did try to mix some of this cream with one of my cheaper no frills soaps that I have. And WOW, that is now the way I use this stuff. I lather up my brush with the soap, then I put a dab of this on there. This makes what I call an Ultra lather, and thus ends up both thick and full like the cream aspect, but also makes it slick like a soap. With that combination I get no razor burn and the peppermint oil is not irritating my skin. This makes it useable so it wont go to waste. However, for the price there are some really nice soaps out there that do not require mixing in another product to make it the way I like it. As with any kind of soap / cream shaving supply, the usage and review takes into account my preferences and experiences with the product. I know that hardness of water will effect which types of soaps and creams you will like. SO as they say, your mileage may vary.

Wow, there is so much I want to say about this product that I find it hard to begin, so lets start at the beginning... I got into traditional wet shaving about 6 months ago, I finally got tired of paying ridiculous amounts of money for multi blade cartridges that, while they did their job rather well, would only last me for 8 or maybe 10 shaves at the most. that is because I have a very hard, coarse and thick beard, and because of my job I have to be clean shaven every day. So, after reading and watching some videos about wet shaving on youtube, I decided to go to my local Target store ( I live in San Diego, Ca.) and got myself a van der haagen butterfly open safety razor, some blades, and a van der haagen shaving kit that included a shaving bowl, a badger hair brush and a shaving soap... I immediately noticed a great difference compared to the cartridges, I got a very close shave with minimal irritation, and, making my own foam with the brush and shaving soap really was a great experience, and, compared to the canned stuff I was using before, the soap felt very different in a great way. That soap lasted for about six months, I came to amazon looking for a shaving cream (looked for shaving cream in Target but they do not carry it) and decided to give Taylor of Old Bond Street peppermint shaving cream a go after reading some reviews, I also got a tub of Proraso sandalwood pre shave cream... and after coming out of the shower, I wetted my face with hot water, rubbed a bit of the Proraso pre-shave cream, took my brush and just got a litte bit of TOBS cream on the tips and started making lather on my shaving bowl... and the results where AMAZING!! Just a litte bit of cream on the tips of my brush created more than enough thick, rich, warm, creamy lather with a fantastic, delicious smell, I applied it to my face and it just felt great, again, the smell was intense and fresh and delicious and, at least to me, the combination of that scent and the sweet woody and earthy scent of the Proraso pre-shave cream was just fantastic, when applied to my face, it felt like cream and I felt the invigorating kick of the peppermint. The difference between this cream and the soap I was previously using is enormous, and, compared to the canned stuff I was using for 20 years up to 6 months ago is just... abismal!! I was a bit worried that the scent would be a bit overbearing, or that the peppermint in the cream would be so strong that it would burn my face, but that was not the case, when youre whipping up this stuff and when you put it in your face, the scent is strong without being overbearing and once you are done and you rinse your face, you are left with a little bit of the scent and a fresh feeling. I totally recommend this product, I like it so much, that I will get some for my brothers and for my dad.

IMO Taylor of Old Bond Street makes some of the best shave cream products on the market. The Peppermint scent is one of my favorites, but I have tried many of them and there are few I would not re-order.

Exactly why I ordered this shaving cream. The peppermint smell is absolutely amazing. I have been using The Art of Shaving shaving cream for several years and thought I would give Taylor of Old Bond Street a try. I had read a previous comment that stated the peppermint shaving cream was a bit more heavy. That comment is spot on. It takes a bit more water to get a good foaming going. As for a comparison between AOS and TOBS. The ingredients are almost identical. I do believe that the AOS is smoother and goes on my face with a brush better than the TOBS. However, I take into account the comment from a previous person mentioned above. With that said, it really boils down to cost. And I have to say I am tired of paying AOS prices. And again, the peppermint scent is a big, big win! I would very much like to try other scents by TOBS but I don’t think it could get any better than the peppermint. So, I am officially changing from AOS to TOBS.

TAYLOR OF OLD BOND STREET Peppermint Shaving Cream Bowl 5.3 oz. 150g. Peppermint Shaving Cream offers a refreshing and exhilarating shaving experience by creating a rich and luxurious lather. Fragrance Notes: Cool Minty Scent. Contains Essential Oils.
