Taylor of Old Bond Street Peppermint Shave Cream (5.3 oz)

Taylors makes some of the best shave cream out there. Performs well, lathers easy, very high yield per gram of the soap. I think the price is well-considered, and the packaging adequate to the task. The face feel of this peppermint soap has a nice cooling, mentholated sensation, and the cream base performs as expected for this brand. My only qualm is that the smell of the soap is a little chemical. When the cap first comes off, it almost smells like something you expect in a doctors office. This goes away as it lathers, and the true mint smell comes to the fore, but it can be a slight turn off.

I have ordered this three or four times. Usually love the very peppermint scent. Last time the scent was different. I still had the tub from my last order- it was about to run out- so that I could compare. The new batch was chemically smelling. I returned it. Will probably try again in the future but not now. Let the bad batch run out first.

This stuff is AWESOME! I love the scent and the minty tingle. It whips up into a very nice lather, and is really the most enjoyable and exhilarating shave cream Ive ever used. Once washed off the scent is pretty much gone; It doesnt linger around like some cheap cologne. How did I not know about this shave cream sooner? Youve got to give it a try! Update: Ive been using this stuff for a while now and I really love it! However, I stocked up and purchased a new batch in Oct. 2016 and just now, two months later, cracked into it. It has a slight off smell to it... I cant quite place it but Im leaning towards a metallic smell. And it doesnt whip up at all. It feels sticky on the skin. Unfortunately I missed the return window. I dont know if I got a counterfeit batch, a bad batch, or what, but Im terribly bummed. I may need to source this stuff from somewhere else if it is going to be sold by different sellers and it is inconsistent.

This review is for the peppermint. The cream has a nice smell, and feels great on the skin. I use this cream by scooping a small amount with one or two fingers into a bowl and then work it into a lather with a brush. I then allow the cream to sit on my skin for 2 minutes to soften the hair and skin and it results in a perfect shave. This stuff leaves my skin feeling nice and the peppermint adds a nice cooling sensation during and afterwards.

This stuff is great. Im a newbie to the world of safety razors and Im not as knowledgeable as those with years of experience, but this stuff is enough to make me want to stick with it. The lather is nice and thick and the peppermint makes my face feel wonderful. The smell is great as well. Ill possibly try some other products just to see whats out there, but I get the feeling Ill keep coming back to the peppermint. I like it that much. I would certainly recommend this to my friends and family.

Having recently got into traditional shaving (single blade razor, soap brush, alum bar, etc) this shaving cream is working really well for me. Definitely love the peppermint aroma and the way it makes my face feel. Its pricey as shaving cream goes but its worth it. It doesnt take very much on the brush/hand to get a rich lather going. Honestly I was a little skeptical of the old-school shaving stuff but it really had made a huge difference in the way my beard grows and the overall feeling of my face post-shaving.

This is a very, in you your face, wake you up in the morning, feeling refreshed kinda peppermint. I love it. Huge peppermint shaving cream fan, ie proraso. This is easy lather to build like most tobs. The only other scent that tops this is the marzipan/almond/cherry like a cella. This gives great slickness and protection. Little goes a long way. I Would buy again.

This stuff is FANTASTIC. Excellent lather and an amazing peppermint tingle while you shave. So amazing to use a great product like this. The scent is not as powerful as I had thought but the feeling on your face and the top-notch TOBS lather more than makes up for it. I would give this shaving cream 10 stars if I could. Also, this is my second TOBS shave cream and they are both amazing! Ill be a lifetime customer for sure.
