These switches will only work on Wifi on the 2.4 ghz band of your router. Thats ONLY IF your phone is connected to the same band. My Actiontec 3000a says it has both a 2.4 ghz radio and a 5 ghz one BUT when my phone (pixel 3XL) logs on to the 2.4 Actiontec lets it go right back up to 5 gig. No connection, no way. No help from the app, though lord knows I tried every step a thousand times. Also, the internet was no help. But I pored over the settings and found a way to turn off the 5 GHz, and wala, problem solved.

I got the two pack of this on a deal. it came out to about $20 each. I like that the set up was easy. The feel of the product seems sturdy and heavy duty. I like that it is 15A and I can run a small space heater on it during the winter. I use it to turn on a lamp in the living room while I am away to let people think that someone is home. The only thing I dont like about it is the size. It is much bigger than I thought it would be. I can see how its size would be a problem if the outlet is near furniture. But once you put it on the wall, you leave it there and you dont think about it anymore.

There are a few things I like about these plugs. I liked the power monitoring feature, although the app does not work correctly on my iPad. It did work on my android phone. I did not have any trouble pairing and adding the devices. However, there are two big issues that make these outlets a poor choice for me. First of all, they do not remember the state they were in prior to a power outage. If an outlet is on before there is a power outage, it should remember and return to an on state when the power returns. The same if it is off. These don’t. If the power goes out, when it comes back the outlets are off and will stay off until you turn them back on using either the app or the button on the outlet. This is a problem if you don’t realize there was a power outage and there is something plugged into it that really needs to stay on, like a mini fridge. That’s exactly what happened to me. I had my mini freezer plugged into this so I could track how much power it was using. At some point during the day the power blinked and the outlet shut off. The next day I went out to grab something and all the food in the freezer was thawed and I had to toss most of it. Not good. My Kasa outlets don’t do that, they come back on automatically when the power comes back, and they also will complete scheduled tasks whether or not the Internet is up. These outlets will not. I didn’t think that was a huge deal because I have my Kasa outlets for things that need scheduled tasks to function reliably. But honestly, why pay almost the same price for outlets that don’t have as good functionality? But anyway, having to check your outlets every few hours to make sure they’re still on when you live in an area where there are fairly frequent power blinks is totally a dealbreaker for me.

Ok, at this price point I wasnt overly hopeful it was going to be a great product. I had an issue with Drone batteries. Its not good to keep them on a charger, and after a set amount of days they are programed to discharge by design. When you lose 4 of them due to sitting on a charger @ $250 bucks each.... Yes, you need to find a solution quickly. Im a first responder and we use drones in some scenarios. I need the batteries charged, but I cant leave them on the charger. Also cant allow them to die when I need them charged. So I tried this product and thought Ill just set a schedule. You can set it to turn on at a set day, and charge for however long you need. It also sends a message stating it started as well finished. I took the other one and turn my lights on and off with it (attached to google home). I have to say bang for the buck is amazing. I have seen no issue with mine. I can control on and off site. When I get an alert we need the drone, I can just manually turn on charger to top them off. And when not needed it cycles the batteries once a week making it a perfect solution. I love it ! Going to get another set for sure.

I was looking high and low for a timer for my pool pump and most of them would not handle the amperage that the pump draws. I purchased a pair of these and was really surprised that it will start and stop my pool pump at the times that I select. It even tells me how much power is being used by the day and for the month along with past months.

The device feels plastic and cheap but its only the exterior feeling, the device seems to be a very robust one and works almost perfectly, the app is the only downside to it, its just another one of those tuya apps, if you recognize that name, then you know what I am saying, is a copy paste of another apps, and it feels a bit empty on some areas such as the power meter side, but it gets the job done, I wish they would put a bit more effort on the app and expand its capabilities, I am sure it is possible to do it though an app update, and it will greatly improve the possibilities and potencial of the device

I love these, I can View energy usage, turn appliances on and off, set schedules and timers.. all from my phone. I can now control appliances at my house like coffee pot, electric blanket, patio and light stringers in a way I couldn’t before. Can now set my coffee pot the night before, and set to turn off my sons entertainment center in the middle of the night every night, he often falls asleep with it on. Definitely makes my home more efficient. Definitely recommend.

I have a dehumidifier in my basement and I was searching for a plug that I could monitor remotely to see if it was running or not. I didnt need the ability to remotely switch on or off (which this does, as does hundreds of other plugs), but specifically needed something to tell me if power was running to the unit (meaning it was on and doing its job). Out of the box, this unit worked perfectly and was super easy to install/download the app. Its been flawless for months now and I finally figured out what was turning off my dehumidifier... it was set to a certain percentage, and when reached, it would shut off. But the problem was that it never turned back on when humidity rose. With this smart plug, I was first able to recognize that no power was running through it, and then was able to turn it on (which I never thought I would use!). Worked perfectly. Hoping this helps someone who has a similar use case as its pretty narrow since it doesnt really use all the features of a normal smart plug.

I picked this up because it could handle the 1500 wattage of my bathroom space heater. We set the heater to automatically turn on with the alarm clock. The best part is I was able to use the app so the heater will always turn off after 30 minutes. If its turned on manually or via the app, itll auto shut off after 30 minutes.

Nice solid plugs that still work with Tuya Convert for OTA flashing of Tasmota firmware as of 07/01/2021. They are a bit big, but two do fit in a duplex receptacle perfectly. I bought the 4-pack that came as 2/2-packs
