Greater than one weekI purchased this to store a large video collection with my 2014 Apple MBP and overall im satisfied with this 4-star product. It is as advertised. Very durable. However, the USB connection between my laptop and hard drive is extremely fragile for whatever reason. Unfortunately, after 4 hours of transferring files, 85% task completed, I bumped into the desk holding the hard drive and mac and jostled it just enough to disrupt USB connection. The files were corrupted and file transfer had to be restarted. It just seems ironic that the StoreJet M3 is marketed as military tough yet every time I interact with it I feel the need to be most gentle, careful not to break the fragile connection to my mac.

Greater than one weekI like the portability and storage size and some of the options on restoring and saving my files. Also, the price is great but because of the following, Im recommending it with a caveat for those with a laptop. By the way, Im using an old Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7 64 bit. At first I was having issues with running the software and my mouse stopped working. Thinking I needed to, I formatted the drive, After restarting my computer didnt recognize the disk. I contacted customer service and their response was good and fast and helpful and they gave me instructions on getting my laptop to recognize it. So I was able to use it. I have a lot of files so it took a very long time, longer than I expected but it did the job. However, although I tried to use a different USB port 2.0 for my mouse, it wouldnt work whenever I tried to run the Transcend backup program. Customer service couldnt help with that and suggested I contact the mouse manufacturer, which was fair, since the unit was working fine.. After disconnecting and reconnecting my wireless receiver the mouse was OK after I restarted the laptop. After doing some research, I found out that a USB 3.0 has a major signal impact on a wireless mouse or wireless peripheral device if either is not shielded enough and youre using USB 2.0 ports, which is what I have. Even using a port on the opposite sides of a laptop doesnt help. This is the link:[...] So basically, I will have to get a wired mouse or one operating outside the wireless signal that the USB 3.0 will not affect. I think this is a good back-up drive for the price and Im upgrading my systems anyway, so the drive will fit in nicely. But this is the caveat and my opinion only. If you have an older system with just 2.0 USB ports and youre using wireless devices especially with a laptop, be prepared. If youre not wired or dont have USB 3.0 ports to bypass this interference issue, I wouldnt recommend it. Otherwise, its okay.

Greater than one weekI have purchased two of these, one for my xBox One and another for my laptop and both work flawlessly. This is a great option for use as an external hdd for gaming consoles or laptops / desktops alike. The storage capacity is more than even I could ever hope to fill, and I am a pretty heavy user. Setup is simple, basically just plug in and go with it. The silicon protective outer layer protects it from slight bumps making it ideal for travelling (ie bringing laptop to cafe, school, work, etc). While its rated as drop tested I really wouldnt recommend performing your own test and just taking it at face value ;) Ive been using the one on my xBox for over a month now and have had no issues. To use with xBox you just connect the USB, turn on the xBox and it will detect it automatically! I have noticed no delays in read/write time when downloading to and loading from the hdd with the xBox in comparison to the internal hdd. Same goes for the laptop. All in all a great product, and the build quality seems substantial enough to last a long time. Excellent bang for your buck!

Greater than one weekI have been using Transcend storage drives for years. I have had this one for 3 years or so and it definitely feels tough. I have not purposely dropped it on hard flooring so I cant say for sure but the product seems to be made of quality material. I dont use it super heavily as it is my spare backup drive, but these will continue to be on the top of my list. Only issue is I wouldnt keep the wire plugged into my hard drive. The last one I had must have been at an awkward angle for an extended period of time causing the plug to bend a bit.

Greater than one weekI bought this for external storage for my Xbox one. It is not a 7200 RPM drive, but it works just fine. I think the price was awesome, and it looks pretty cool as well. Update: 12/29/2015 - After using this for a few days, it seems not to work well with my Xbox One after all. Any games I had running off of it would freeze for about 10 seconds randomly. I moved the games back to internal, and have not had an issue since. I do want people to know this is a great product, and maybe it is something else, but I have a brand new Xbox One and it works just fine without it. If you need a great external drive for anything else, this is the one for you!

> 3 dayI was a bit concerned, honestly, because the pricing was almost too good to be believed, and Ive paid for lower cost externals and been very disappointed. Have had it about a month, and I could not be more pleased. It was a nice plug-n-play for me, I didnt have to reformat or repartition it, and was able to transfer files immediately. The drive is sturdy, the outside cover is a great idea and I love having that terrabyte mass to accompany me for those special occasions when I need bulk space since I do movie edits. It is as good as promised so far. Now, to see how it handles over time! March 2015 Now had this drive over a year and yes, Ive even dropped it. Still working and kicking and I may buy a few more just to keep them in case... Still very happy with this drive and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a solid 1T drive. Ill check back in the future and keep up with this drive because I think its going to last a loooooong time.

> 3 dayI received the 1TB drive yesterday, and I absolutely love it. As a Linux-only person, its important to me that products work--and work well--with Linux. This drive most definitely does. Straight out of the box. As with most things Linux, the OS detects the hardware and the user doesnt need to do anything. No software to install, nothing to configure, just plug it in and youre good to go. Of course, the software thats included on the drive doesnt work with Linux--its only for Mac and windows--but I wouldnt use it anyway. I prefer to manage my files with my own methods, so Im not missing anything by not being able to use the included software. For what its worth, the software is stored in directories called RecoveRx, StoreJett ToolBox, and Transcend Elite. Linux users please note: Its file system as shipped is FAT32. If you leave it like that youll come across the idiotic microsoft nonsense of thinking THISFileName and thisFILEname are the same. Use gParted or your favorite disk partition utility to format it as ext3, ext4, or whatever your preference is, to get around that issue. Im very impressed, and pleased, with the speed of copying files to and from this drive. Super fast! Its military grade shock resistance is nice to have, but hopefully I wont ever need it. :) For its price, $68.99 (and free shipping, since I have Prime), its a great buy.

Greater than one weekEasy to use between PC and MAC, after ten years and 4 or five PCs I now am using a MAC. I had been throwing all my photos and documents into one big folder each time so transferred to a new laptop. The files and pics were way to big and disorganized to put on the new MAC, so they got transferred to this portable hardrive. Now I have all my important stuff in one place and anytime I feel like spending a few hours trying to properly sort them, I just plug in and do so without clogging up the memory on my new computer. So easy to travel with! Worked effortlessly with both formats and appears well built and ready for my next adventure as I continue documenting a million miles by motorcycle chasing the cure for MUltiple Sclerosis. > 3 dayOriginally got this for my P.C. then had to switch it over to my Xbox One. Had trouble initializing until I was able to format it. (Think double dutch) afterward it workes like a charm was able to move most of the games off my hard drive and run them off of it with no problem. Only a slightly longer time needed to load but nothing major. If you have a newer game system most games require anywhere between 20 and 60 gigs of storage on your system and with most Internet providers having a 250-350 gig limit (you dont know about it till you hit it) additional storage is a must. (Just spreading the knowledge)

> 3 dayCasing is extremely sturdy just by comparing it to my old external harddrive that broke from a small fall. It comes with a program to help recover files, too, if you ever have an issue. Also you can use the easy backup feature, or...you can just manually backup whatever you want. I prefer the latter form because I dont want everything saved on the harddrive. It doesnt really come with instructions (just one page of notes) but it can be found on the website once you register your product for warranty. Nothing better than paperless! From what I could tell, would not run in a 2.0 USB slot (did not come with cords for the dual-thing everyone is talking about, just one normal cord). Works very fast and efficiently in the 3.0 USB slot. Its all I really wanted was something to put all my files on. So no complaints here!
