I bought the Transcend 1 TB StoreJet M3 Military Drop Tested USB 3.0 External Hard Drive specifically and solely to save all the games and apps on my Xbox One. Ive had it since November 2015 and its been working fine. I noticed that in the past couple months it started glitching and would randomly restart from time to time, but now it has died completely. I am going to troubleshoot to see if maybe the cable is faulty since that is the only option available. However, maybe this hard drive is not meant to be accessed as frequently as the Xbox does. I save games and streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney, etc. I dont know what the normal life expectancy is, but I am a bit disappointed if its already toast. Update: The customer service is great. My product is no longer under warranty, but theyve done everything they can do to help me troubleshoot the issue, including shipping me a cable, which saves me the headache of trying to find and by one, since my model is older and non-standard. Update: Swapped in the new cable and it came right back on. No data lost, everything works fine. I am extrememly satisfied with the product, and with the service. I recommend.

Originally got this for my P.C. then had to switch it over to my Xbox One. Had trouble initializing until I was able to format it. (Think double dutch) afterward it workes like a charm was able to move most of the games off my hard drive and run them off of it with no problem. Only a slightly longer time needed to load but nothing major. If you have a newer game system most games require anywhere between 20 and 60 gigs of storage on your system and with most Internet providers having a 250-350 gig limit (you dont know about it till you hit it) additional storage is a must. (Just spreading the knowledge)

I bought this disk as a backup device for my PC. For backup purposes I routinely plug the drive into my Anker USB Hub (with 9 USB 3.0 Data Ports + 1 Smart Charging Port). My WIndows7 PC notices this drive right away and has no problems supporting my various copy methods (drag/drop, robocopy, hard disk image copies). I use Paragons Hard Disk Manager (HDM) to perform image backups of my PCs hard drives. HDM has no problems breaking this drive up into multiple partitions. I actually had to use HDM to recover from a recently garbled MSWindows update (ie, trashed my C: drive). While I couldnt get the PC to recognize this drive in a USB-3 port, the PC did recognize the drive when plugged into a USB-2 port (probably a limitation of my PCs bios and/or HDM, eh). Anyhoo, I was able to recover my C: drive image from backup partition on this drive without any problems.

UPDATE... Originally marked this as one star. Changing it to four stars and writing an update below... I put all of my photos and videos on it and had been using it to store those files. Today after having it four months, all of the data just disappeared and the error message reads drive is unreadable and or corrupted. A wasted $90.00, but worse yet, all of the work I had done and all of the precious memories are GONE. I learned a valuable lesson. Do not rely on one external hard drive to keep important files. Do NOT buy this drive! I am going to update this. I was able to retrieve all of my information/data and get the drive running again. It has been running well since.

This is magnificent & sooo WONDERFUL external drive to use with the Chinese Video capture cards!! Most importantly I connected this SPECTACULAR external hard drive with my video capture card and I kept recording stuff from my satellite receiver, movies, TV soaps, TV shows and I SWEAR this external hard drive NEVER heated and NEVER get warm even!!!! I hate it when the external hard drive becomes hot after prolonged period of usage and here in Saudi Arabia the temperature is very high, but this BABY doesnt heat or become hot even after hours & hours hours & hours hours & hours hours & hours of usage and I touched the surface its just sooo normal!!! The design is VERY GOOOD and its durable and very good quality and transfers data VERY FAST to my laptop and life became easier with the button on top that connects it to PC if accidentally removed!! I loved it..I loved it..I loved it and HIGHLY recommend it <3

    Greater than one week

The drive I received had a speed 5400 RPM so the the backup was slow, but it does work as a backup drive. It is portable and seems to be durable, although I have not drop-testedit myself. :-) I will update this review if any problems develop.

Easy to use -- plug and play. So far has held up to general transportation and moving around. Using it store music, digitized CD collection.

I bought this for a somewhat unusual purpose: to keep my iTunes library on. I was using a WD MyBook for external iTunes library and other media. I like this drive much better. Though it does go to sleep after 10 minutes, the spin up time is SO much faster than the MyBook. I dont know if this is because it is a smaller drive, or what, just know its great! The surface of the drive case is non-slip. Didnt think that mattered to me, but it has been a real bonus, since this drive gets hauled around a lot. It gets connected to a powered USB3 hub most of the time. I havent needed to plug in the second USB to power the drive. One note: I have to disconnect this drive from the hub before I boot up my ASUS Gamer laptop, else the boot gets stuck on the ASUS screen. Not really a big deal. I have other hubs and USB device combos that cause this same problem.

I havent had this but a few days, but have attempted backups about 7 times. Every backup failed and I received error messages telling me different reasons why it failed. Although some files do copy to the external drive (and very few), never has all of them. Here is the info in my error messages ... Sometimes it tells me it won`t copy anything over 4G. When I print out the error log, it says `the system cannot find the path.` Plus, the Transend Elite software will not give me the option to backup my Pictures or Video folders ... it only allows me to copy from Favorites, Desktop, Documents. I included the above info into an email to tech support. Here was the reply I received back. Keep in mind, I had multiple issues (cant copy over 4G, cannot find the path, cant backup my Pictures, etc). ______________________________________________________ TRANSEND TECH: All hard drives and flash drives come formatted to FAT32 by default. FAT32 does not support files larger than 4 GB and most likely you have files larger than 4 GB. In order to get around this problem you have to reformat the drive to either the NTFS or exFAT file systems. ______________________________________________________ No where does this tech person tell me how to format the drive. I have since found out how on the internet, but apprehensive to do it not knowing if it will prevent me from returning it if it still refuses to back up my files. I removed the folders that were on the error report (5 folders), that had the error cannot find the path. I then tried to backup the folders left, and I still received a message that the backup failed. Im now looking for a different drive and will return this one when I find it. The software on this one is poor to average, in my opinion. The reason I even gave 2 stars is because the device itself is very nice looking and solid made, and the backup attempt was fast using 3.0 USB.

I have only had this drive for about a week now and it seems to be well built. Acts just like any other USB hard drive. However I purchased this drive on this basis of a review that stated this drive worked with the PS4. It definitely does NOT work with the PS4. Works great for with the PS3 but NOT the PS4. Which is the reason for the 4 stars and not 5. The PS4 will not even recognize that this device has been connected much less use it as a USB drive. I hope this helps those that look at this drive for the same purpose I did and reads the same review that I read and can make an INFORMED decision based on the review of someone that actually bought the drive for the same purpose.

One plus one is greater than two. Transcend"s StoreJet 25M3 portable hard drive combines the advantages of Transcend"s award-winning shockproof StoreJet M series and the next-generation SuperSpeed transfer rates of USB 3.0, allowing users to enjoy ultra-fast file transfers and the highest level of anti-shock protection. Besides its outstanding combination of super fast transfer speeds and extra-rugged anti-shock design, the StoreJet 25M3 is equipped with an extremely convenient One Touch auto-backup button. Now you can instantly backup, synchronize and copy large files without having to waste precious time waiting for the transfer to complete.
