Using 2 of these in a 75 gallon aquarium that has a sand substrate....getting tired of dealing with HOB filters and sand. Sponge filters work great as a biological filter, which is basically the only filtration I really need to be honest. This sponge seems fine! I will probably purchase more of these for other tanks in the future --

These work great. They keep my water clean n clear. The key to these sponge filters is to go big. The bigger the better and will keep your tank clean n clear longer. You can go the exact size sponge for the tank size, but beware of more cleaning of the sponge and your water wont stay clear as long. Some of the sponge filters I have bought that are on the smaller scale tend to not be able to keep my water clear at all.

Excellent for breeding. Lots of area for nitrifying bacteria. Simple but very efficient design. The weight on the base is good but would be better if it were slightly heavier.
