> 3 dayIll let other people handle the benchmarking. All Ill say is that with a great processor and fast DDR5 memory, my boot and app performance is FAST. Im quite pleased with this as my boot drive.

> 3 dayFor the product, so far so good. Found a website with simple walkthrough for install, and it was pretty easy. One tip, first site I looked at said pull on cover with significant force until it popped off. Dont. Pull up corner, then slide the side. On the reverse, make sure you get a good solid click reinstalling the sides. (Mine popped off, oops) Too early to tell for performance, but PS5 recognized the new memory stick and have installed things to it already.

> 3 dayI do some CAD and 3D rendering, Im not a gamer but Im sure it would be great for all but the most demanding games. Id recommend a heatsink, Im sure it needs it. A little more than I wanted to spend but Im glad I got it. Samsung and WD Black run neck and neck at this time, Im sure either will do the job nicely.

21-11-2024Got this for my PS5. Got it for a great price and it was very easy to install. And the read speed that it showed my when I formatted it was about as fast as the ps5 is capable of.

Greater than one weekI just performed my second install attempt with one of these drives. The first one I tried would only format up to 13%, then the PS5 would freeze and Id get a message to close the application. I tried booting in Safe Mode and uninstalling/reinstalling a few times but no bueno. Did a quick return via Amazon which is pretty much painless, now - you just dropped it off at a local UPS store and they scanned a code on my phone and took it from there. Amazon actually shipped the second one on the same day I submitted the old one for a return - a two day turnaround to get the replacement. Just installed the new one and it all went very smoothly. NOTE: make sure you put the little spacer UNDER the SSD - the install order is system board on the bottom, then the spacer, SSD (on top of the spacer) and then the screw. Took <1 minute to format and reported a Read speed of +6700 mb/sec. Moved my 5 games from the system drive to the new ssd in about 5 minutes. As long as you dont get a bad one, Id recommend this drive for your PS5 storage expansion - just make sure youve installed the latest PS software on your system first.

Greater than one weekI was deadset on the new 990pro from samsung but luckily with it being sold out I had time to do more research and found this beast. Not only does it perform better but much cheaper! Cant go wrong.

Greater than one weekEDIT: May 18, 2023: After 2 months dealing with the PC cold power on that didn’t boot to Windows but enters directly to BIOS to find that the WD Black SN850 M.2 NVMe SSD with heatsink (Win 11 boot drive) isnt detected —until several forced power off and on the PC— the drive reappears. Furthermore this happens randomly. That is, the PC boots perfectly for a few days, even a week, to then start repeating the problem. I’ve tried everything, even disassembling the PC, cleaning contacts of components (CPU and CPU socket) and cables, button flashing BIOS with only the PSU connected the motherboard, then installing reinstalling and testing them them one by one (memory takes the longest by bootable USB flash drive with MemTest86), incredibly when the BIOS detected the drive I tested it and it passed. Also “funny” was about this drive: With the BIOS not showing it, if you go to advanced settings (MSI MOBO) and selected Secure Erase, the PC turns off an on to post to a display where it lets you see the drives in your PC and select which one to erase. There, invariably, the WD Black SN850 M.2 NVMe SSD is detected and listed; so if you wanted to secure erase erase the drive from BIOS you could because for that operation the drive was always detected.

> 3 dayThis drive would stop being recognized in the BIOS twice, even with the latest BIOS update for the B450 chipset. Don’t waste your money on this as you’re playing Russian roulette with your money.
