I bought the 2 TB WD SN 850 for my PS5 as soon as I got the beta SSD update from Sony. Came in today, installed and this is a game changer as games loads even faster than the stock internal SSD that came in the console. The drive is pricey but I am fine investing in my console for years of enjoyment. I highly recommend any of the different sizes for PS5 gamers.

Beware, this does not work in the M.2_1, PCI-e Gen 4 slot of the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus motherboard (with latest BIOS and firmware versions). It works in the M.2_2, PCI-e Gen 3 slot, but at slower speeds than Gen 4. I have not tested it in other motherboards.

Im impressed by the speed at which game loads especially Skyrim and the heat sink makes it even better.

Only buy this hard drive if you want to replace everything on it every few months or so. I just downloaded a game update, and everything downloaded and installed correctly. Once I launched the game, the PS5 crashed, and upon restart, the PS5 informed me that the internal 2TB m.2 hard drive can not be repaired and must be reformated. The drive worked fine up until this point, but what difference does that make? If the drive just randomly breaks under normal usage, its completely unreliable in my opinion. I sure as hell wouldnt trust any critical data to this drive, and will definitely remember to avoid Western Digital in the future. In the meantime, Im out $300 AND a hard drive.

So far was great up until about a day ago started to have fail to read or it would just disappear from being shown got this for my ps5 everything worked flawlessly until started to have issues with it now it’s just fancy looking stick may not buy again but still need one to expand my storage just sad

I got this very quickly I purchased the 1tb as the next size was 120$ more so wanted to save a little money but this is the first time buying an SSD card for any reason and I was nervous about installing but it was very simple took less than 3 min and when I turned my ps on it gave option to format and then all I had to do was move my games over and my load times cut down to half of what they were before which was already lightning fast I’m so impressed and happy with this purchase!
