We babysit our twin toddler grandchildren once a week. They are both starting to walk and are exploring everything. Shopping for lifes second child proofing cycle I spotted these foam rubber bumpers at a local big-box lumber/hardware store. I liked them so much I went back for more a couple of weeks later but they had disappeared from the shelves and with no apparent plan for restocking them. Shame! So I visited Walmart (they carried them but were out of stock) and several drug store chains. Nothing, so off to the web! I found these at Wittle through Amazon Smile, ordered them, and had them within 3 days. These are made of high-density rubber foam and slide over the end of the door with good grip on smooth paint or varnish. I believe they are closed cell as well which means they are probably washable and wont act like sponges in the unlikely event they get dirty. They provide a good one inch gap between the door and the jamb to protect those tiny fingers. You can locate then anywhere on the door edge and I would recommend mounting them above the toddlers reach. Check to make sure that older door doesnt flex enough to undo the protection if the Guard is installed higher! The Guards pull right off if you need to actually close a door and they are small enough not to take up much space on a shelf or countertop. I suppose we could take ours down weekly to allow them to recover shape, but most of them have been left up since we installed them with no problems. Those that are removed do return to their original shape, and I believe if they ever lost their grip it could be restored with some light sanding of the grip area. They are so simple, effective, and easy to use that I highly recommend them.

I am mostly using these in my babies room right now on the door when we go in for nap prep and/or diaper changes. They are a year old and just started playing with the door - which also includes swinging it open/closed - so the timing of this product couldn’t have been more perfect! So I’ll pop one on the door above the door knob whenever we go in there. Its easy to do quickly with one hand, and pop it off on my way out. And full disclosure, an extra one is used as a squishy distraction during diaper changes. Whatever works these days, honestly!

I am using the 4 pinch guards on all of our bedroom doors (infants, 3 1/2 year olds and mine and my husbands room as well as the kids bathroom). I put them high up, within my reach on the side of the doors so I can have quick access to them if I need to take them off (nap time, bed time). I use them because my 3 1/2 year old loves to slam doors when he has a temper tantrum and has slammed his hand in bathroom door when he tries to close it all the way. The guards allow the doors to close with a big enough gap so his fingers don’t get caught but small enough so the door doesn’t feel wide open. The material is wonderful because it doesn’t make any noise when closed on or when installing or taking off and is very durable. When I take it off the door, I put it on the handle for storage and it fits perfect until i want to put it on again. It fits snug on the door so it won’t fall off but I can take it off with one hand while holding my infant and put it back on.

these are a life saver for little fingers and tantrums! No more slamming doors or smashing fingers in the door. Definitely the cheapest option to prevent tiny smooshed fingers.

I use to use a version of these when my son, who is now 16, was small. I had giving them away to friends, once I was done, for them to use for their pets so they would not get locked into a room by a door closing, etc. I recently developed a need for them again when I purchased my front loading washing machine. The door is to be left a jarred when not in use but with my laundry room being in the room coming in from the garage, the door keeps getting closed. So I was happy to find these on Amazon so I could use them on the washing machine door to prevent it from being closed. They work great.

I have to laugh that Im posting a review for these, but they are too good not to comment. I needed something to not only keep my doors from slamming shut with the wind, but also that would ensure my one year old didnt slam his fingers as he loves swinging the doors. I was just using a traditional door stopper until my little crawler started taking those out...so, I found this product and Im never going back! When the wind tries slamming the door, this little piece perfectly prevents that from happening. Same when my little one is trying to slam the door! The best part is I dont have to bend down while carrying him to take them on/off - swiftly and with one hand, it can be done. Silly to think this little product warrants such a good review, but Im super impressed.

This product is great. Your child can not close the door. Unfortunately, the baby is used to closing the door and cried when they couldn’t. Hahaha!

This does keep little fingers front getting smashed in does, but they dont stay in place long at all. After 2 or 3 pumps on this thing and it dislodges. I constantly have to reset it on the door, so at this point its just a hassle. Ill deal with it until I find something better. Good in theory though.

These are firm enough to keep cat from closing the doors and getting caught in a room. Easy to remove when I need to close the door for privacy during a zoom call. They blend in with my white doors.
