Y Team Controller Adapter for Gamecube, Compatible with Nintendo Switch, Super Smash Bros Switch Gamecube Adapter for WII U/PC with 4 Port

Set it up on my laptop with Dolphin emulator and original Gamecube controller. Did require some configuration in Dolphin. The directions are not written in very coherent English. To use for this, you have to set the port to Standard Controller and click configure. From there, you want to select DInput/0/GameCube Controller Adapter as the device (or 1, 2, or 3 depending on which controller youre setting up. If this option doesnt show up (it didnt for me), click Refresh next to it and it should work. You then have to manually assign each button. Save your profile just in case it resets, but when I closed and reopened Dolphin it still remembered my settings so you should only have to ever set this up once. Overall a good value, wish the manual had been written with english words that actually go together.

I dont want to ding this review too badly, but I was not happy that it didnt work with my Wavebird controllers. I only own Wavebirds, so I could not test this with corded Gamecube controllers. I ended up finding a similar product that supported my controllers and returned this product. I dont understand, technologically, whats missing internally to only work with corded controllers even though the Wavebird receiver fit just fine into this. If all you have are wired controllers, this may work fine for you, but if you think you may want to try a wireless controller with this, beware.

If you’re like me and you absolutely must play Super Smash Bros with a GameCube controller, this is a good adapter for interfacing with your Switch or Wii U. It also works for PC, though I haven’t tested that functionality. If you already have classic GameCube controllers that you’d like to keep using, this is a very cost-effective solution vs. buying new controllers. Control input and rumble work perfectly, no lag or anything. Much cheaper than the official Nintendo adapter, too. Recommended.

Ive had this adapter for almost a year, I think, and its worked great so far on switch. I recently upgraded my PC and downloaded a gamecube emulator, but unfortunately, the rumble feature doesnt seem to work. Ive seen answers that claim it does, but no matter how I configure it, theres still no functionality with the emulator. Otherwise, great buy.

I was hoping setup could be as easy as plugging in and playing, but thats definitely not what happened. I had to mess around with this adapter for at least 2 and a half hours before I learned what to do. The included instructions say that once you plug the adapter into the PC that a driver should automatically be installed. This didnt happen for me. I read the instructions that said to reach out to the YCC team for any help, read reviews and questions people asked, and was disappointed to see that the general response from YCC team is read the included instructions. Well, sadly, the instructions hold no answers and unfortunately poor English. The team also says that there are no drivers even though the instructions clearly said there is one. It makes no sense. So, here is my solution that eventually made the adapter work for me and will hopefully work for you. 1. After plugging in the adapter, go to the Dolphin Emulator website and download Beta Version: 5.0 - 17995 (current beta version as of 12/27/2022) - https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ This was the only version that I could get to recognize the Gamecube controller with the adapter. Itll download as a zip file that you must save to your desktop to access. 2. Open a second tab to https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/how-use-official-gc-controller-adapter-wii-u/#Using_Zadig . Scroll down to Windows -> Using Zadig and follow the directions. 3. Open a third tab to Zadig - https://zadig.akeo.ie/ Here you will download the latest version (Zadig 2.7 is the current file as of 12/27/2022). The purpose of Zadig is to give you the correct driver thats needed to use the adapter as the one that should be automatically downloaded either isnt there or isnt good. 4. Go to Dolphin Emulator -> Controllers -> Port 1 (Select Gamecube adapter for Wii U) -> Hit Configure. Now you should be able to see if the controller is working correctly with the adapter and can choose your button layout. If this worked, you should be able to download the games you want to play and get started! My closing thoughts: While this adapter is more affordable than the official Nintendo adapter, I really think its debatable if its worth going through this mess to get the adapter to work. The only reason Im going to say its worth it is because I got it to work. I tried this out on two computers and it worked, but I dont necessarily know if this will work for everyone. That being said, its one more solution being offered that the YCC team sadly cant provide. I appreciate the affordability, but this should be easier to use right out of the box.

Its good for playing Super Smash Bros. with your old Gamecube controller, but unless youve bought a wired Switch Gamecube controller to use this with, you will not have a left Z button for the games that utilize it - for example, in Animal Crossing you wouldnt be able to open your Nook Phone. Still, the product does what its meant to.

It worked great, my friends and I were able to play smash bros. all day long without having to buy more $70 nintendo brand controllers. Thanks for this great product.
