> 3 dayThis tap and die set arrived complete and in great condition. I will use it for the first time to repair stripped threads used to hold my engine skid plate to my 4x4 truck. REVIEW FOLLOW-UP: I used the taps to manufacture new threads as indicated in my original review. The taps worked great however the T handle is not of the highest quality and it kept loosening which caused the tap to constantly fall out. I ended up using a creacent wrench instead.

> 3 dayThe tap wrench bit clamps are rubber, and they couldnt turn the bit without slipping. The T wrench was also useless. The 10-24 bit itself held up fine cutting steel. I ended up buying some quality wrenches to get the job done. If youre an occasional user, youre better off saving money on the bits and buying quality wrenches. You can always buy quality bits one by one, or buy a cheap set and replace as needed. I didnt try the die wrench, but the clamping assembly is mostly plastic, so I wouldnt count on it.

> 3 dayI cross threaded one of the 1/4 inch lead/stainless hurricane shutter mounts in my cement block wall (here in Florida) and it would be a mess to pull it out and try to replace it. I was able to use the 1/4 inch tap to repair the threads and make the existing mount usable. The tap was able to cut metal on what I think is stainless steel in the mount. This was worth most of the cost of this set. As others have noted, the tools that go with this kit are 3rd world quality but the taps and dies themselves seem to be ok. This is a great kit for the homeowner but probably not for industrial use. Due to close quarters, I had to hold the tap with a pair of pliers to do the work, as there was no suitable tool to hold it supplied. As others have noted, after spending some quality time re-arranging all the tools in the case, I took the suggestion to add a piece of cardboard to the inside so that the tools would not bounce out of place anymore.

> 3 dayLook, you get what you pay for but with that said, this kit can deliver to an average DIY’er. If you’re looking for industrial use or even moderately heavy use, go with something a bit more expensive. But comparing this to even “middle” tier Irwin kit, it’s on par. Proper understanding and use is critical to not only this kit, but any kit you buy. You need to make sure you use the proper sized drill bit for your hole, understand how different metals and their thickness can impact the tool itself, use proper cutting oil, go slow and these will work just fine. We use Klutch brand taps at my job and we tap metals from 3/16in all the way to 1 1/2in thick and tap holes as large as 5/8-11. We use a pneumatic tap arm so it’s less work for us but guess what? Those expensive little taps break on us all the time too. As for the case issue people complained of. Mine came in great shape and in order. I’ve messed around with it jiggling it and flipping it and only a couple of the smaller taps have came loose inside the case. For a homeowner/DIY’er, this kit is the best bang for your buck.

> 3 dayThe tap and die set is nice but it doesnt look like it would be considered a professional set. The package has two separate plastic trays for the taps and the dies. Always make sure to replace the clear plastic tray covers over the tools before you tip the tool case on edge otherwise all of the individual pieces will fall out and get mixed up.
