Initial impressions of the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE are strong. Its a rocket of a laptop with impressive surface stats. The Core i9, RTX 3080 TI, and smokin fast DDR5 memory look like a dream build. A comparably built Razer unit runs almost $1,000 more than the Acer.

This laptop is a beast. Gaming gets me 300-400 fps on normal settings and 120-150 on ultra. No video lag. The only issue I faced was with windows, but it is a different story. A lovely silent keyboard and turbojets fan would cool this baby down. This kind of laptop doesnt tend to be battery efficient due to the loaded CPU and GPU. If you are playing you have around 45 minutes once your parent shuts the braker down. If you are on a budget it is a great opportunity to get a gaming laptop. I do wish there would be more compatibility to update ram for the future since it is kinda a big investment and I would last it longer than 2 years. It is definnatly not portable laptop even though it is a laptop, this beast is a bit heavy. But you are purchasing this powerful machine for a reason right? not for business meetings. The product is carefully packed; mine came with at least 2 boxes before it reached the laptop. Acer tends to provide great care of their packaging, so the problem of a broken laptop on arrival is extremely rare. It is a monster when it comes to gaming. With 300hz monitor, I am satisfied as there is no tearing and fps spike. It is just a perfect choice especially for FPS games out there. However, there are two problems to be concerned about, which are the noises that it makes and the heat. Usually, while gaming, you would probably hear a lot of fan sounds, and it might affect your experience with friends, and yep, heat also comes along. Obviously, it is a gaming laptop, so I could not ask more besides a smooth run for all of my games. I am really satisfied with this choice.

Its a powerhorse of a laptop. You will most likely never hit the maximum refresh rate of 300hz, but thats where the G-sync comes in so youll have virtually no screen-tear. Surprisingly cool since it does have three fans inside. Just be aware that you pretty much need to have it plugged in at all times to do anything.

If all you want is a well performing 2070 Super Laptop sure, the Triton 500 is very appealing on paper. Sub $1500 for these specs!?.. Heck yeah! And then you realize that you cannot judge a book by its cover.. Literally. This otherwise great gaming laptop is designed with the motherboard flipped toward the keyboard. Meaning, you cannot simply take the bottom cover off and upgrade your memory or add a second SSD. Upon opening, you will be greeted by the back side of the motherboard and no easy way to update your newly purchased $1500 gaming laptop that only comes with a 512gb SSD. 512gb is simply no enough HD space in 2021. You basically have to COMPLETELY disassemble the internals of this to simply add HD space or RAM. ACER.. What the F? Terrible design IMO. There are plenty of thin gaming laptops out there that are designed PROPERLY. Bottom line, shop around. Dont waste your hard earned money on such a throw away design. Reworked ACER this could be a crowning achievement. But in its current form its just not practical when there are so many other options out there that dont make such a massive compromise at these sacrifices. 3 Stars is being generous.
