The drive is fast, its USB 3 and is considerably faster than the USB 2.0 drives Ive used. Its a little more expensive than other 1TB drives but if it truly is military grade durability it will be well worth it if dropped. I have not dropped it... yet. The only fault I have so far with it, is it comes with a USB cable that is held in a grove wrapped around the drive. So far so good. This cable is very rigid and stiff. I find when I plug it in the stiffness prevents the drive from laying flat and puts stress on the drive connection sometimes causing a bad connection. You can play with the positioning and get it to work but I simply replaced the cable with a more flexible one. Its not quite as thick so it doesnt lock into the grove as well as the one that came with the drive though. So overall Im very satisfied with the one minor issue with the cable.

Has been solid as a storage drive, but as others have said, the connection is weak and faulty. Please fix this problem Adata.

This is my 3rd Adata 4TB storage unit because they’re priced well and work well. I store a lot of photographs and can always easily find what I need

I needed backup storage for both my video and data folders and after a lot of research I purchased 2 of these 2 TB drives and am completely satisfied with them. SSD was my initial choice, but I took a second look at conventional HDD as the price difference was enormous. What made up my mind was the ruggedness and small size of the ADATA drive. They are shock resistant and waterproof, that is major, and are a compact size (granted a bit larger than similar capacity SSD) and with a no slip rubber jacket. I just liked what I saw. Performance wise they are fast USB-3. I also have had experience with SSD drives, which are faster, however the ADATA drives are no slouch and for the intended purpose of backups a little extra speed is not an issue and certainly not worth the sizable extra cost. Its important to note that data transfer speed is dependent on many factors besides the type of drive, I seriously doubt in everyday use the average person would see the difference when simply backing up data. To those claiming slow xfer speed I would strongly suggest researching the factors that determine data transfer. Overall I couldnt be happier with my choice.

This is the second waterproof Adata product I own, and boy have they come a long way. First of all the drive is IP68 rated meaning that it can withstand dust and water submersion making it one of the more durable hard drives out there, for reference most waterproof phones are IP67. Another nice feature is that the USB port cover is latched to the drive, making it impossible to loose, In the future, I would like Adata to make it waterproof without the latch, however, I understand that that will make it less durable. Performance wise this drive does what it promises, with read/ write speeds being 125/125 Mb/s respectively, nothing groundbreaking, but its not intended to be. What I would like to be improved is the way the cable attaches to the drive as it puts additional strain on the cable, but Ive been using it for a while now with no problems, so not a major complaint. All in all, I think its a pretty good product and would be a great product had the price been lower but the cool camo skin sure makes up for the price :).

Although my initial impression was good (for what you get spec-wise for the cost) after using it more Im beginning to regret my purchase. This device is locked down with a non-upgradable custom system (Meaning you cant update existing Android system or upgrade to newer Android version(s) Its missing options under settings that are seen in most android operating systems (even something as simple as Apps or the option to check for updates, security or feature, both of which dont exist here) which force you to jump through hoops to access, if they exist at all on this custom system install. Trying to go into recovery mode on boot-up to try and force an android system update (this one hasnt been updated since 2017 so not the latest security installed) will yield you a list of Chinese characters with no idea on what to choose or how to get out of the endless loop it will likely put you in (turns out it seems the bottom choice lets it boot up normally, if you can get back to that choice screen after choosing something else from the list) And after giving up on that, youll eventually realize another issue...that being, this thing randomly changes the last 3 entries of its MAC address for its wireless connection, forcing anyone that has an access list for their devices to either change it in their router every time this thing powers off/on/reboots, or to turn off their access list control entirely on their wireless router Honestly, if I knew all this before-hand Id not have spent my money on it. However, as it was relatively cheap (especially considering the base specs it lists) its not really worth the effort of trying to get a refund, as it would be too much trouble trying to figure out how to permanently get rid of all my various personal account info Ive put on the device before returning it (with its gimped/hidden/locked-out features) It comes down to this...if you dont care about access lists for your wireless connection at home, and dont care if the android system never gets updated with no option to check for updates (security, feature or anything else for the base system) let alone upgrades to higher OS version(s) then this is a pretty good deal for the money...otherwise, Id suggest you stay away and opt for a slightly slower (and more expensive) option, but with more secure and updated system and more reliable and standardized access features.

I have concerns about the durability of the hard drives USB connector and how securely it holds the USB cable connection. I suggest at least up-sizing from the micro to medium size connector, and a mechanical latch/strain relief to maintain connection. Have only used the drive via USB 2.0 interface. As previous reviews and drive documentation point out; data rate is dramatically related to power - from over three hours (reading/sourcing 10 GB Ghost image) with marginal supply current, to ten minutes for the same task when supply current is more generous. Still this drive serves my purpose and would have given it 5 stars but for the mentioned connector concerns.
