ADATA HD710 Pro 2TB USB 3.1 IP68 Waterproof/Shockproof/Dustproof Ruggedized External Hard Drive, Black (AHD710P-2TU31-CBK)

This thing worked flawlessly for me on a recent trip to very dusty Africa where I used it nightly for backing up mass quantities of photos. The on-board stowage of the chord is GREAT. The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because I also had along a similar spec hard drive made by Lacie (the orange and silver one), which Id say just felt more reliable: the casing on the Lacie feels rock solid, whereas this one feels like it is just snapped onto the outside of an existing hard drive. However, the Lacie does not have the convenient storage for the cable. The cable on this one fit the Lacie drive as well so, I just used one (the ADATA) cable for both drives. Beware though, both of these drives use a cable that is not compatible with other drives that Ive add (that little double headed end that goes into the drive-Ive never seen that before).

I have transferred a major portion of my video collection and still have over 1.25 TB left for use. I have tested it for several months before writing this review and it still works great. 10/26/2020 UPDATE: Still works fine. I have accidentally dropped it and it works. Once left it outside accidentally and it still works fine.

These drives are good drives. I ordered two for my wife, in different colors so she could use them for different applications, and theyve been very solid. Dont expect them to be extremely fast, because at the heart, they are 2.5 laptop drives, but they are great for transferring files between home and school, or to a friends computer, or whatever you need.

As fate would have it. I had a minor catastrophy not even a week after receiving this external hard drive. My PC was trashed. I would have lost everything but this external drive lived up to its toughness claims. I have all my files, photos, and movies because this thing took the abuse of a partial roof cave-in.

Lo.mejor que e comprado

I am a tech junky and have external drives as old as 12 years. Some are simply bare drives in enclosures, some are firewire, some are USB 2.0. I even have 8-bay RAID drives running on USB 3.0 or eSATA. Lets just say I have some experience with external drives from many manufacturers. On top of that, I have used them for travel, work, and even sent several through the mail over seas and back! After all these experiences, the ADATA HD710s are by far my favorites. First of all, USB cable storage...PRICELESS! Fast, not the fastest, but fast. Durable: oh yes. I havent tossed them out on a freeway or anything, but I did drop one down a flight of stairs. I think my stairs took more damage. Fair warning: pets think they are chew toys. My drives have bite marks, but still work fine. I have recommended these drives to many of my friends and family and will continue to do so.
