It’s important to get skilled at leveling a printer bed manually, but once you’ve got it down pat, you probably just want to get your prints done. Having the machine do the work for you and get right, reproducibly, is what the BL Touch is for, and it’s great at it, but you have to know what you’re doing. It’s not for beginners, but auto bed leveling with a sensor like the BL Touch is the next step to reliable printing.

I received a v3.1, and it is working with my Ender 3 stock board and Marlin 1.1.19 bugfix. I printed a fixed bracket I found on thingverse and did not use the springs. That placed the probes trigger point at about 1.5mm below the nozzle.

Couldn’t get 3d printer level after weeks of trying until this. took away so much frustration getting started!

When it is working, it’s great. Unfortunatly, I just ordered my third, not because I love it, but because they stopped working. I do not know if it is something I am doing or something to do with the controller board ( Duet WiFi). The last one worked for six months and I was happy as a pig in pie. I printed almost every day, but then I took a few days off and came back to a flashing BLTouch. Usually, that is a wiring issue but I made sure it was plugged into the controller correctly, checked all the connectors with a usb microscope, and even though everything checked out alright, I carefully built two new cables, but in the end, I was left with a flashing non-functional sensor. Addendum: The third I’ve worked fine with both the new and the old wire and connectors. Tried the old ones with the new wire and connectors and the still did not work. I would saw that locks it down: the BLTouch was mal-functioning on the two older ones.

This is a great investment for your printer, but installation can be a challenge, especially for a newbie. Be sure and do a lot of research on what you have to do to install it on your printer before diving in.

I installed this on a Petsfang mount on my Ender 3. Not having to baby sit my prints and re level all the time is amazing.

The staple of my printer.... once added, I’ve totally forgotten how to level my bed. No joke. I haven’t leveled the bed in about 3 months and all my prints are sticking the the bed perfectly. Get one now! Don’t think about it... just do it!

Im very pleased with this product. I ordered from 3D Printer Universe and received latest version (V3.1). It verified with ANTCLABS genuine verification - how stringent their verification is unknown, but I did my part in trying to support the creators of this device and made sure to buy from one of their authorized resellers listed on their website (I just chose the first one on the list.) I printed out the bracket ahead of time and was able to get it all up in running in less than half an hour. If youre using Marlin, there are plenty of video guides available, but check with the firmwares GitHub page as it is the most updated. Im using it with a SKR V1.3 board and Marlin 2 firmware with no issues. Also, be sure to check the wiring of your board before you connect as you might have to switch the wire layout in the connector. Overall, this has been a great little product. You should still manually level your bed, but this takes a lot of the guesswork (and readjusting!) out of it. P.S. If you arent using glass and your bed is particularly deformed, increase the number probe points in the mesh routine to 4x4 or 5x5.

This works fantastic until you run a higher temprature filiment like ABS or Nylion. Anything over 60c from a preheat sends it into a wonky flash of errors forcing you to do an M99. I really wish this company would use material with a higher temprature rating (I would be willing to pay more for it). 3 out of 5.
