Overall, the laptop works fine. I got it as a graduation gift and plan to use it throughout undergrad. However (and this drives me absolutely crazy), the screen is constantly yellow. Ive fiddled with the settings multiple times, and sometimes, the screen will appear normally like it should, but most of the time it has a yellow sheen. This makes it so that the screen itself is super dim. If you use a dark app (say Spotify), when you return to a lighter screen, its darker than before. I know it can be lighter because when its plugged in, the screen is bright, even if still yellow, but as soon as you unplug it, its super dim, even when brightness is turned all the way up. Makes it almost impossible to use in bright light, like sitting outside or even in my room with the screen facing a window. It seems like its a problem with the computer because a bunch of other people online have the same issue and no one seems to have found a way to definitively fix it. Sometimes the computer just freezes too. Not very often, but it will just freeze and I have to force shut it down and hope it turns back on right. Considering thats what happened to my last computer, I am not a very happy camper at the moment.

Out of the box starts right up and easy setup. Great value for the money. The screen display could be better quality. Good feel overall. Typical weight for a laptop. Does really good with a WiFi signal no signal drops yet. Battery life is about four hours. Nice amount of memory. Surfing the internet with it does a good job.

I have tried 2 other PC laptops with higher specs and found them lacking. This Asus is great. iTunes loads as fast as my iMac and no real lag as of yet.

Dont trust them. Computer does show the extra ram, the speeds ok but not good. However it crashes on me frequently. The PCs basically new have hardly used it and downloaded nothing. Even googling without clicking any links the whole thing crashed on me. Plus the graphics are horrible. Ive seen cheaper computers 5-6 years ago with better graphics. Which makes me wonder if they tampered with the graphics card. Only buy your computer brand new. Dont trust anyone you dont know to mod it.

Excellent laptop for remote work. A couple surprises upon setup: 1) the generous 15.6 screen looks surprisingly small and I may have to invest in a second desktop screen to add to the system, and 2) there is no disc drive (the capacity is for zip drives), so I did have to purchase an external disc drive separately.

UPDATE: if you want a laptop that dies after 2 years, this is fine. I expected 5 to 8 years, so I have downgraded ASUS from 5 stars to 2. Shortly after I got it the M fell off the keypad and keys cannot be replaced even after ordering new ones. A few months later, the 2 key fell off, but I did not complain b/c it otherwise seemed robust. Typing was only minimally hindered by having to hit the white key bases where M and 2 used to be. TODAY it is officially dead, or at least many keys are now completely unresponsive and I cannot even login. I do have an external keyboard attached now (b/c of an able assistant), but my expensive ASUS is now a defacto brick: carrying an external keyboard around is a totally-sux solution. I am not likely to ever buy another ASUS.

Returning it because I dont want to deal with trying to fix the BSOD anymore with suggestions from the web. But I do like the this particular Asus Vivo Book model, size and overall performance (when the BSOD doesnt occur - that is) as well as the prompt arrival of my original order so Im reordering it and giving it another go. Will definitely update my rating of this product in the near future based on the new order from the same seller.
