After a year of running the stock plastic extruder and tubing. I decided to change it. Ive had a couple of the plastic parts break off, suffered from some gear drag, print failure, and the small feed area where the filament enters the extruder was sharp, causing the filament to shave. Also, I discovered a crack on the bottom of the arm. In the past, Ive had excellent service and other products from F1RST LAYER, so there was no doubt where I would spend my money. The package arrived in short order and the install was simple. I would tell you to clean (learn how to) your hotend before installing the new Capricorn Bowden Tube. Its not terribly difficult. In short, turn the unit on and disable the steppers. Heat the hotend to 200 degrees, unload the filament. Remove the pneumatic fitting at the top of the hotend. Make note of how deep the tube is and match the length of the new tubing. Cut them to match. Cut at a 90-degree angle, this will ensure a proper fit and lessen the chance of leaks. Disconnect the tube connector and press the old tube into the hotend, remove any filament with a pin from inside the tube. Repeat until it is clear of filament and there is none oozing from the nozzle. Remove and replace the nozzle with a new one (not included) You should have some that were supplied with the Ender. If not clean with a brass brush and reinstall. Now, with the hotend still at 200 degrees, install one of the stainless steel pneumatic fittings. DO NOT over-tightening, but make it tight, you dont want to crack the heater block. Take the new Bowden tube and press it down through the stainless fitting into the hotend with some pressure to make it seat all the way down. Hold it there for about 15 or 20 sec so the tube heats up and seats properly. Power off the unit. Mount the Extruder according to the F1RST LAYER supplied directions. Turn the power on and heat the hotend to 200 degrees. Feed the filament into the tube while holding the feed arm you should manually extrude several mm of filament through the nozzle. Power it down and make all connections secure. Reconnect the new tubing to the wire loom just like it was, and youre done.

Bought this because the plastic extruder arm cracked on my sons Ender-3 and we needed a replacement. I figured why not do some other upgrades along with a metal extruder so this kit seemed perfect. There are no instructions with the kit but there are plenty of YouTube videos that show you how to install the different parts. The metal extruder works perfectly and required no recalibration. The Capricorn Bowden tube is so slick it makes feeding the filament a breeze and the tube fittings have metal teeth that really grip the tubing. I have the yellow springs on my Ender-3 Pro but these are longer and seem to hold level much better. You may have to adjust your z-stop a little but its worth it.

I bought this couple of months and installed it today. The part is not threaded so it just doesnt work. I did not check and return window is closed. In case anyone buys it make sure pary is properly threaed.

These upgraded springs are keeping my bed much more level and are a massive upgrade over the stock springs. I dont have to level my bed after every print now. The blue clips included are great and the fittings have teeth inside which grip the PTFE much better. The extruder is working well too and is much easier to feed filament into as opposed to my old plastic one. Capricorn is the best PTFE there is and anyone with a bowden style printer should buy it.

High quality springs that are much stronger than stock springs. I don’t have to relevel my bed as often anymore because these springs keep the bed in place. I don’t understand why creality don’t just sell these with their ender 3 printers. Everything else is working great too.

We had originally bought this extruder kit a while ago. The one we got was the non threaded version. We were not happy. After reaching out to F1rst layer, they refunded us the price and promised to send us the correct extruder when it was in stock. A few weeks later we received the correct extruder. This one was threaded and all parts were of genuine quality. The install went smoothly and the extruder has been working wonderfully. We really applaud F1rst layer for going above and beyond in fixing the issue we had originally. They could have just refunded us the money and left it at that. However they kept in touch with updates on and fulfilled on the promise to send a replacement. Customer service on their end is outstanding.

Super easy install. The parts are good quality. The instructions are just an exploded diagram so find a good YouTube video. It comes with some spare parts. Overall it is pretty great.

I finally finally got time to install this only to find out that there were no threads tapped in the hole! Its basically useless for me.
