Works well to block the sun. Takes a while to dry if used in the rain due to the way it folds, but overall, its great. The colors are a little more muted than it seems in the pictures, but I have received many compliments on it.

Horrible umbrella/parasol. Horrible customer service. First of all, this is listed for rain and sun but it doesnt block out the rain. The first time I used it, raindrops leaked through the seams and directly on to my head. It was a mildly rainy day, not stormy nor windy. I couldnt believe that it was so poorly designed. Secondly, the button on the side doesnt work to close the umbrella. It is labeled to automatically close, but upon pushing the button, only the top shuts and the metal shaft remains extended. It wouldnt be so bad except that it is exceedingly hard to close it by hand. Even my husband had to use two hands to try and close it and he was struggling. Third, it is very heavy and uncomfortable. Its by far, the heaviest umbrella, Ive ever had. I would have never bought it if I held it in a store. It does not fit comfortably in a purse and even if it did, it would weigh the whole thing down. Worst of all, when I wrote to the seller about all these problems, I was completely ignored. It truly shows they are just trying to make a quick profit and dont care about their customers. They cant even take the time to send a basic response. I have no use for this umbrella. I am completely unsatisfied. You cannot rely on this product and you cannot rely on this company.

Tried to return, return center closed due to lack of staff. Went out of town now past time.

The umbrella is very pretty and does a good job at protecting me from the sun. It folds into a nice compact size. Unfortunately, it is very hard for me to close, and because of that I am reluctant to open it. If I had realized just how difficult it is to close, I may not have bought it. If youre young and strong, this should not be a problem for you.

Since several family members of my family have had skin cancer and I am fair skinned, I feel it is a good idea that I try to protect myself from the sun as much as possible, even in the northern U.S. I saw several of the Asian university students sporting shade umbrellas and thought it was a good idea. This one came recommended from other Amazon reviewers, so I ordered it. Sturdy, yet lightweight, it fits perfectly in my bag. It would be perfect if one is going to be strolling leisurely through a public garden or attending an outdoor concert in full sun. As I walked briskly along in the sun today, I did notice that it would not provide shade for one arm or the other depending on how I was holding the umbrella. It does provide excellent coverage otherwise; you cant see through the umbrella like you would an inexpensive rain only umbrella. The mechanism that opens and closes the umbrella is stiff, which is great as it should stay open when it is open and closed when it is suppose to be closed. The matching sleeve keeps the umbrella compact in your bag and the cloth (not plastic) carrying strap is a very nice feature. I am eager to see how it preforms in the rain.

It was a Christmas gift for my Granddaughter & she loved it.

I have used the umbrella about three times and so far I find it easy to use, to open it you press the up arrow to close it you press the down arrow and hold the handle with one hand and press from the top with the other hand. I just wish the umbrella was bigger to cover more. I gave four stars for sturdiness for the moment.

I had one of these for a long time. The rib - that rigid piece that bends when it opens and closes - broke. I ordered a new one and it arrived w the rib broken! Had to return. Mixed bag. Good umbrella with a vulnerability.

This is the second umbrella Ive bought from this company. First one was the yellow flower. I had it for over a year and I broke it during this horrible rain weve had here in Texas. I closed the car door on the shaft and that was all it took. I was really sad about it to. I bought this one from the same company because these are very sturdy umbrellas that fold down neatly and fit in my purse. I mainly bought it for the colors and uniqueness but was thrilled with the good quality and would recommend them to anyone.

Ive bought this item a few times in the past, and each time, I could use it daily (I use it both in the rain and as a parasol on sunny days) for a long time. However, this last time I purchased it, it was slightly different from before (i.e., a bit more lightweight and the fastener is now a button rather than Velcro). I was fine with the changes until the cord snapped two weeks after I got it (thankfully, it was only drizzling at the time and not a heavy rain). This is a very pretty umbrella, so its upsetting that its now so poorly constructed. UPDATE TO THE ABOVE REVIEW: The defective umbrella actually still works, but once in a while it would suddenly collapse as described in my first review. I then have to close it completely and open it again (and then itll work fine until the next time it collapses by itself). However, I actually got a replacement for the defective one, and havent had any issues with the new one. So maybe the defect is just a fluke? Overall, I have to say this is still one of the prettiest and most useful umbrella/parasols Ive bought on Amazon. I do carry a parasol every day (Im very conscientious about sun protection!), so have tried several different ones from different sellers, but I keep going back to this one.
