Greater than one weekI would recommend not using the crummy little piece of hacksaw blades that usually accompany firestickes, or the back of your expensive knife. Ive had much better success with the specialized, thick strikers/scrapers. The one I bought has a map scale, a metric scale and a bottle opener (especially essential). They work much better and are easier to use with frozen fingers.

> 3 dayI like this rod very much it fast became my go to fire starter.hard enuff to last&soft enuff to throw mad metal.a green horn can easily start a fire with it.have one in every fire kit&my EDC.we have 4 but plan on getting 20 more 3is2,2is1.1is none.oh&the pre drilled hole is Awsome I put a Handel &pin threw the hole&have allot of Ferro Rod to still strke gives that extra feeling of self reliance
