> 3 dayThis is my second ferro rod, and by far superior to my other one. The first one I paid $6 more for and it has much lest surface area. I bought it in ignorance thinking the wood handle would be nice when in reality it adds weights and reduces surface area. This doesnt come with a striker but I found that the strikers are not even the best way to start a fire with these. I ended up using the spine of a knife and it was a lot more effective. I highly recommend this as a survival go to. I would however highly recommend practicing in a at home situation before you take it as your only fire starting method into the great outdoors. I did this and was glad I did. Spent 20 Min with a ferro rod and had no luck spent 2 min on youtube ditched the starter for a knife and had a fire going in under 45 sec.

> 3 dayComes with two of them, they’re big, and they shoot tons of sparks. Starting fires is a breeze and these are probably going to last for years from the looks of how the one I’m using is wearing down (not much)

Greater than one weekThrows a lot of nice hot sparks even when its wet...but those wont light a fire if you dont prepare kindling properly... especially if the burnables around you are wet Can these rods start a fire? You bet. But if you dont study fire preparation and PRACTICE IT these will just be a waste of money and you would have been better served with a Bic lighter. If you buy these and havent started a fire with one before....train with them and they will serve you well.

> 3 dayThese are some seriously beefy ferro rods. I doubt Ill ever get through even one, so barring I lose the first, I plan to give the second as a gift. Great reliable way to throw some big sparks. Heavy but feels very durable.
