    Greater than one week

I got this steam mop to try. The biggest complaint I have is the power cord. It is too short for me to move around. As a result, I bought an power extension cable. Another feedback is please throw in extra mop or offer the mop to be purchased separately. I hope the manufacture take the feedback and fix it in the next hardware revision. On the positive side, the mop works well. It heats up and can easily mop through wood floor/tile floor.

i purchased a black and decker steam mop catalog number SM1610 in october of 2012. it was a very fine steam mop and just died this year. I ordered this model, what a disappointment, flimsy nothing like my previous model. sending this product back. very disappointed in you black and decker!

It cleans. It wasn’t advertised as having a mile long cord. Or for having easy cord storage. Giving it 2 stars for nothing?

I replaced the first one I got via Amazon because it apered used. There was some water in the container and the handle appeared dirty. The replacement I received ALSO had water droplets in the container???? Its unfair, nowhere in the description does it say that this is a used or a refubrised item. I ended up keeping the second one because I really needed it. But I am not a satisfied customer. This is something that should be in the description!

Im really surprised with this Black and Decker steam mop, and not in a good way. The mop is so stripped down. It functions, but its really lacking. -You get 1 mop pad. It is so thin and cheap it feels disposable. The mop pad sticks with a velcro-like strip onto the bottom of the mop head. Its not a very good pad at all and it just doesnt feel secure enough to really clean well. I actually had better luck using bonnet style steam mop pads that fit over the whole mop head. I had some left over from an old steam mop and they seemed to work better than what came with the Black and Decker mop. Also interesting is that the mop pad that this came with wasnt even the striped pads it shows on the box and in the listing images. I got a solid white pad that is super thin. -The mop is not free standing, it falls over if you dont prop it against something. -The water tank is built into the body of the steamer. If you dont have deep sinks, its a total hassle to fill. The instructions says not to leave water in it, so it is also annoying to empty if you have water left over in it when you are done mopping since you have to tip the whole mop. - The cord is short. REALLY way too short. Its frustrating to have to unplug this and find another outlet just to make it across the room. -The back of the steam mop has 1 hook to hang the cord. There is no bottom cord keeper to loop it around. Why so stripped down? -To make the 1 cord keeper hook situation even worse, the end of the plug has no prong on it to snap it onto the cord when you are done wrapping it to keep everything in place. Seriously, how are you supposed to keep the cord in order on this, short of tying it in a knot? ------------------------------------------------------ On the plus side, the machine is easy to use. -It has one switch to turn the steam mop on and another switch to turn the steam function on/off. -The handle is pretty comfortable to use and it puts out a decent amount of steam. -Its lightweight. -It can safely be used on hardwood and tile floors. Overall, it WORKS, but there are a lot of little things that make this feel like Black and Decker really skimped on the design and make it troublesome to use. If you are on a tight budget, this does work, but its almost better just to save for an upgrade since you will immediately have to make an additional purchase for more mop pads with this model anyway. Mediocre.

I think this is better than using a Swiffer Wet Jet because you get the steam to kill bacteria and a washable microfiber pad. Having to work with a power cord is a small price for good cleaning.

Awful. Absolutely awful. I was so excited to receive and use this steam mop too. We just moved into a new apartment with wood floors and I wanted to clean and disinfect our floors. First off, it was like the opponents were just thrown in the box carelessly. The top was taped shut and looked like it had been opened before. It included one cheap pad. It was easy to put together but crappy to fill. There’s no funnel and you have to take the handle and bottom of the mop off to fill the reservoir. There’s no max fill line either. Wrapping the chord up? Nope. There’s one hook on the top but not another on the bottom so you can’t wrap it. It did get some grime off the floor but the chord is so short - I had to keep unplugging it and plugging it in a socket where I wanted to steam mop next. So inconvenient. This was not worth the hassle and frustration. This steam mop is a total joke. Which is surprising because I’ve had some decent black + decker appliances. Do not recommend at all.
