When The Blues Brothers arrived in the summer of 1980, most critics attacked its $27 million budget - believing the musical-comedy would flop as badly as Steven Spielbergs 1941. They were wrong. In fact, the intervening years have been kind to the John Belushi-Dan Aykroyd cult classic, which can be seen in a better light thanks to John Landis directors cut. Exhibitors balked at the original 2 1/2-hour running time and forced Landis to trim 20 minutes for theatrical release. Happily, the musical performances have been gloriously expanded on DVD — notably Aretha Franklins Think, James Browns The Old Landmark and the powerful John Lee Hooker segment. As a result, the emphasis lies more on rhythm and blues than outlandish car chases. No matter what version you see, The Blues Brothers is great fun from beginning to end.

My kids like it

This is a film I have heard of for years and as I was due to go on holiday to Universal Studios I felt it was best to see the film before I watched the live stage show in the theme park.

It honestly does not get any better than this. The music is incredible - it will have you tapping your toes and shaking your tail feathers. James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Cab Calloway are reason enough to watch, but supporting cast members like Carrie Fischer, John Candy, Henry Gibson (I hate Illinois Nazis! ), and a cameo by John Landis add to the chaos that IS the blues. John and Dan were on top of their game here and we get the full effect of their comedic and musical talents. If you have never seen this movie, PLEASE take the time and enjoy a little slice of pop culture - if you have seen it, watch again and crank up the stereo! The Blues Brothers singing the theme song from Rawhide is worth the price of admission alone!

Labbiamo visto tutti, ok, è vero, però compratevelo solo per sentirlo in lingua originale, è ancora più bello se possibile.

Ho acquistato questo DVD per apprezzare la versione in inglese, avendo unaiuto grazie ai sottotitoli.
