> 24 hourIf you need to solder SMD or very fine components, or you just want to make regular through-hole soldering a worry-free pleasure, get this and get the T18 BR02 tip (conical but with a shoulder, so you can get in anywhere and just heat what you need). I know Im jinxing myself, but I havent lifted a pad yet, in several weekends of fooling around with SOIC-8s. This iron is just worlds better than any radio shack special Id ever used before. The included cutters are actually very nice - flush instead of slightly inset like most diagonal cutters, and they feel solid and well made.

> 24 hourMy first soldering iron. It should be my last. It is a great set up. I love all the different tips that are available. It heats up fast and the digital display is easy to read and use. It is great to have the sponge and tip cleaning right along with the stand. Nice.

> 24 hourAfter using a $5 soldering iron from Radioshack for years, this soldering iron just brings a tear to my eye on the time it takes to heat up. it has turned the soldering process from a pain to a pleasure. Would definitely recommend for anyone interested in soldering!

> 24 hourI was super skeptical in buying a solder iron that cost this much but know I dont know why I didnt get one sooner. It heats up so fast and works SO much better than the cheap weller I had. It actually makes soldering EASY and fun. Use this soldering iron and some Kester 44 and you are golden. Dont delay and pick up one of these Hakkos today! The cutters that came with it work good too, better than I expected.

> 24 hourThis is the best soldering iron I have ever used and Ive owned many cheap ones in the last 40 plus years. I finally decided to put the money in this unit in hopes of never having to buy another one! I work on guitars and amps and HiFi gear and well, the short time Ive had it, Ive been extremely pleased with it and my soldering skills have increased exponentially because of the quality of this iron and tip. If you are tired of the results youre getting, even though you know how to solder, then I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get the professional results they should be getting! Its a real joy to use this solder station! It heats up really quick and its easy to change temps if you need to. I have not used any of the presets yet but have lowered the temp some for certain jobs and it will come down very fast and go back up to the temp I select. Dont hesitate to get this station if you are considering it! As I am, youll be very glad you did!

> 24 hourOnce you figure out the preset mode and adjust your presets, its smooth sailing from there. Bought this for hobby purposes more than professional use. Very happy with the product and seems like everything is high quality. Maybe I could have spent $50 less and been just as happy with a knock-off but I struggle with soldering so I wanted to be sure I had a high quality iron that I couldnt blame. 1.6mm chisel tip is a treat after working with pointy conical tips since my dad showed me how to solder when I was 12. Newbie at soldering? Get a good iron, good solder (63/37 with 2% flux), good solder wick, and some rosin flux paste or pen. The right tools are SOOO important with soldering.
