> 3 dayThis is getting ridiculous. This is a soldering iron. Not a computer, not a space station, not even spanning a Dollar-store-toaster kinda complexity. So why does it need three additional button pushes to turn it on? Humans are getting good at pushing buttons? To the point wherein we NEED added security on a basic Hobby Soldering Iron? And, said device is so incredibly complex, that it needs to be split into TWO stations? Why? If I want to solder something. I wanna flip it on, and go. I want a tool I can use immediately, not some asinine interface. I want to focus on the task at hand, not HAL2000. I want to solder, not fiddle the diff betwixt 456 degrees and 457 degrees. And really, a password? What egomaniacal designer thinks their low-end iron requires such security measures? If you need some big badass soldering station, get some real lab gear. Otherwise, go for an analog Weller and get to work. I remember when Hakko made a great basic iron, A switch, and a freakin dial. Base and station all in one unit. Simple. Just because something is digital does not make it better.

> 3 dayMy first soldering iron. It should be my last. It is a great set up. I love all the different tips that are available. It heats up fast and the digital display is easy to read and use. It is great to have the sponge and tip cleaning right along with the stand. Nice.

> 3 dayIts a great soldering station, it has a small footprint, it works very well/ I had to buy right away a smaller tip for my application. 1.6MM its more like 2MM. Came with a great wire cutter for free.

Greater than one weekExcellent piece of equipment. I have used other soldering equipment, but this one is far superior to others that I have used. I would highly recommend this soldering iron.

> 3 dayThis is a superb soldering station product. I was using the weller with temperature select tips which worked great. This is much better. Its more powerful (70 watts) than the weller and comes up to temperature much faster. And no changing tips to change temperature: just follow the instructions to punch in a new temp and vualá! Best station Ive used... Now theres one thing missing from the instruction manuals and nowhere to be found (without extensive digging on the internet). And that is how to do a factory reset... As I have discovered; It can be easy to accidentally mess up the temperature offset. I got into a certain menu mode and moved the numbers up and down thinking I was changing the temperature. When I researched in the manual I found that I was actually adjusting the temperature offset!! with no way to know how far the offset was - I was stuck - yuk! How do I reset? No answer except to use a ~$200 or ~$1000 hakko thermometer to recalibrate hmm. very interesting. It seems they want to sell some extra thermometers... Hakko should be ashamed. I did the secret factory reset and mine tested spot on with a borrowed high temp thermometer. Heres the secret factory reset procedure -- Use the switch on the right side to turn the unit off. (There are two buttons on the front: the [UP] Button and the [ENTER] button.) Hold the [UP] button down and at the same time press and hold the [ENTER] button. Then turn the unit ON while holding those buttons down. Keep the buttons down (about 1 second) until an A flashes on the screen. Then release both buttons and press the [UP] button one time. There should now be a flashing U on the screen - Now press the [ENTER] button once and thats it. The memory will be cleared and reset to factory settings and the unit will now count up heating to the default 750°F -- Who wants to be told they unexpectedly have to buy a thermometer that costs twice as much as the soldering station!? Really? Come on Hakko! You can do better than that! Other than this annoyance this unit is a great and excellent value.

> 3 dayI used a wall plug soldering pen and then switched to this unit and the difference between the wall plug in pen and this Hakko station is night and day. If you have troubles soldering or de-soldering you will most likely need a temperature adjustable unit like this one. The Hakko soldering station is a good one for general use there are better ones, but this one meets the standard requirements in my opinion (comes with one chisel tip, sponge, wire cleaning tip the brass colored wire thing). The iron heats up in about 20-30 seconds and it is ready to solder, easy interchangeable tips and nice detached iron holster. The overall footprint is small, so bench space wasted with this station is very little. Overall, great buy to improve soldering quality with a noticeable difference without a doubt.
