> 3 dayLove this iron, but sad it died after only one year of daily use. Hakko offered to fix it for nearly the cost of a new one. No thanks! Too bad, because the pen is well-made and the iron maintained a really consistent temperature until about a year in. Then it simply would not go any hotter than 450 degrees from then on. I tried all the factory resets they recommended, to no avail.

> 3 dayI was torn between this station and a comparable weller model. On the weller I liked the knob for adjusting the temperature (not looking at the digital unit) but liked the digital display of the Hakko. When I purchased this I was worried about how easy it would be to change the temperature. Turns out it is simple, painless, and can be setup with presets. After using it for awhile, I love the quality of the iron and tips and how quickly it reaches temperature. The sponge doesnt seem that durable, but that is easy to replace. Everything about this feels sturdy despite the cartoon-like appearance.

Greater than one weekI love this thing. Excellent soldering iron for under $100. Heats quickly and accurately. Very happy with it.

> 3 dayHeats up really fast. The interface takes a bit to get used to. Over all this is a very high quality solder station.

> 3 dayExcellent soldering station for anyone who wants to step up from a cheap mains powered iron. Great price and good quality components/build. Works well on a 200W 240v to 110v AC step down transformer - no issues at all.

> 3 dayI bought this to use as a general purpose tool, but I would warn others to keep looking because this iron is only good for very small jobs. I have had several problems with this soldering iron. The main issue is that the temperature control is a really bad design and is very frustrating. I was willing to overlook this flaw once I had read the online forums to find out how to use it (completely ridiculous) however there is another problem. This iron lacks the power necessary to do much other than some fine PCB work. It is simply not able to deliver enough heat when working on 1/4 inch audio jacks or anything that is capable of sinking heat. This basically rules this iron out for anyone who wants a tool for audio use. I noticed that the temperature reading stayed constant, even though the tip was not hot enough to do the job, which is possibly a design flaw. Im disappointed in this iron because for the price I paid it should perform better. It does have some good features and is made of high quality materials, the holder is particularly good.

> 3 dayWorks well but would suggest getting the extra 12 pack of tips with it. If you are not careful you can burn the tip pretty quickly.
