Heats up amazingly fast and works great. I really love this thing. It takes a few minutes to get used to changing the temp, but once you do it is simple to set. So much better than my old crappy soldering iron.

This is my first quality soldering iron, so it is light years ahead of what Ive used in the past. I find that I dislike the push-button programming and the fact I may have inadvertently thrown it out of calibration via fat-fingering it (no way to tell once that happens; you just have to factory reset it). For that reason only, I wish I had gone with the Weller.

Having had this FX888d for a year and half, used maybe 20 times. Its completely dead. The fuse is good, all wiring resistance measured ok. The indicator lights do not come on and the unit just beeps once when plugged in. My walmart soldering irons all work, but this expensive unit is completely dead. So instead of using this as a tool to fix other electronics, I now have to take this apart and use other tools to fix it. Do not buy this, I cant say this product is of any quality or reliable.

Absolutely loving it! I used a cheap soldering iron before, and I struggled having nice solder joints, and really had a bad experience. With the hakko 888d I enjoy my build! I use it for building racing quadcopters and all the little delicate parts, and the thick cables just are very easy to connect while using it.

Way better then the cheapo hardware store version it replaces. A bit tricky to set up - as described in other reviews, but once that is out of the way, its easy to use. I do have to refresh my memory when I pull it out for a job if I havent used it in awhile.

If you have a lot of soldering to do then go ahead an make the investment. This is one of the best irons I’ve used and it heats up so fast!

Cant get a better iron for the price. Very high quality. I have had no problems doing pin point soldering, bigger projects or desoldering right out of the box.
