Greater than one weekIve connected my 2019 MacBook Pro to a Thunderbolt dock with this 2-meter-long cable so I can sit with the laptop on my lap (imagine that) and have several external drives connected from afar. It works. Id ordered another, cheaper, cable from another manufacturer and the slightest movement caused disconnection of all the drives. Id tried several ways to steady the connections but no luck. Then I tried a short CalDigit cable that came with a CalDigit dock I use at the office and it seemed to be reliable. So I took a chance (not a chance, really, with Amazons return policy) on this longer cable. A week into it and so far not a single disconnect. It must have to do with the connectors gripping more tightly, plus the sheathing on this is a more flexible plastic than the off-brands braided sheath. Dont skimp if you want reliability. Others may be just as good but definitely not the one I tried first. Unfortunately its too late to return it.

> 3 dayI have a Razer Core X and a CalDigit TS3 Plus. Both came with short cables. Tried both the CalDigit 2m cable and NekTeck 2m cables, both of which do not work. The original cables and an Apple 0.8m cable works with my devices. I am giving 2 stars because CalDigit knew about the incompatibility, but this is not stated on the product page.

04-06-2025Given what a mess USB-C is (i.e. one connector but lots and lots of cable nuances), I appreciate that CalDigit marks the cable connectors with a 3 and a Thunderbolt to signal that the cable is in fact a Thunderbolt-3 capable cable. Since its active, it can transfer 40GBps. Passive cables longer than 0.5m will be limited to 20GBps. While those numbers sound immense, keep in mind that a 4K display at 60Hz will consume ~13GBps.

> 3 dayIt works. Not much to say. My monitor sometimes goes a little glitchy when I plug both this Thunderbolt cable and an HDMI cable into it and try to run 2 computers at once, I guess its getting confused about which port it should be listening to, but I think thats the monitors fault, not this cable.

> 3 dayAfter trying a few thunderbolt 3 cables that didn’t support my dual displays, this cable did the trick and provided a longer distance than the TS3+’s included 0.8m cable.

> 3 dayWhen it comes to reliable brands, you can trust Cal Digit. They make the TS4 dock for MacBooks which are top of-the line. Their cables are the same. Only wish they would have a braided version.

> 3 dayThis TB4 cable allows me to switch back and forth between two Macs using the same TS3+ dock by simply unplugging the cable from one Macs TB Port and plugging it into the TB Port on the other one. Sounds simple, but it was never that simple with the old long active Thunderbolt 3 cable. With the old TB3 long active cable, there was a laborious process of Mac detection and dock reboot required to switch between the two Macs using the same dock.

> 3 dayFirst one clearly did not work. The screen would flicker. Amazon replaced it immediate. The second has worked great on a 4K setup
