> 3 dayFor comparison, its about as quiet as an old fridge or a window AC unit. You can easily talk over it at a normal volume while its running. Its bigger and heavier for the same tank size than the Porter Cable pancake its replacing but that thing was so loud the tank would literally ring. Its definitely worth the money if you do a lot of work after the kids go to bed!

20-11-2024I owned the cheap Porter-Cable pancake compressor...it was so loud I felt guilty using it outside because of my neighbors, and I could never use it inside if my kids were trying to sleep. Thankfully it eventually started to fail and I was able to replace it with this one. It is so quiet you can use any time of the day or night. Really smooth and powerful, one of my best purchases ever.

Greater than one weekthis is my second C.A.T. Compressor. they are the brand that I prefer due to their dependability and performance to noise ratio. it is worth spending the extra money on a quality tool if you use it day in day out and rely on it to put food on the table. After working with one of these, the louder compressors will just become irritating to you with the noise level they run at. the California air tools can be ran inside your clients house with no complaints of noise, conversating next to the tool while its running is not an issue. recommended for carpenters and professionals as well as DIYers. 5 stars.

> 3 dayVery quiet, reasonable price. Ive heard great things about these compressors and now that Im starting a remodel of my own home while living in it, I finally pulled the trigger on a quality quiet air compressor. So far, its failed on the first job. Attached photo is the power cord once removed- incredibly, this isnt the failure point of the power cord. Fortunately the compressors control box accepts a standard 1/2 strain relief, so if youre handy you probably have a spare cord, crimp connectors, and a proper strain relief to replace the cord on your truck.

Greater than one weekI bought this in December 2019. Just started using it yesterday August 12, 2020. I aired up (4) ATV tires and (2) lawn mower tires. That was all. Possibly 10 minutes run time total. I turned my back and the motor got louder. I turned it off and air was escaping through a broken fitting. (see photo) This new unit didn’t last 11 minutes. I’ve read the reviews and found that this happens often. Cheap fittings! We removed the broken fitting half, and noticed the threads were poorly machined. Extremely rough threads. It’s quiet and light weight but poor QUALITY. I would not recommend this unit unless you’re prepared to throw the dice and see if you win or lose. This company needs to address this issue and then fix the problem. We bought some brake fittings for approx $7.50 for both ends. (figured from the previous review photos that both ends brake ....... see photos) “Hey California Air Tools get on board and manufacture a good product instead of this cheap junk.” You’ve lost a customer here! BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

> 3 dayThis is my second air compressor. I was limited in use of my 15 gallon cheap compressor to the hours of the day when no one was on the telephone or watching television. It sounds like a freight train and shakes the house. This compressor is far quieter. Even after reading the descriptions, I was surprised how quiet it is. Plenty of air for staple, brad and pin nailers - it can even handle the big framing nailer, if you can move at a slow pace for a while. Light enough to carry to the work, I might eventually rig up a hand trolley for it at some point.
