Huge difference in sound level between this one and two older compressors. I have mounted it in the bed of my truck and with the tonneau cover closed you hardly hear it. Reassessment: I really put this to the test topping off about 40 tires/day (over about and hour) for 3 days. Sorry to say it disappointed as the duty cycle was not sufficient to keep up. The compressor shut down near the end of the hour and would not restart until it cooled down. On the last day I had to get the noisy Porter Cable pancake unit out to do the job. I am going to try adding more storage capacity so it will have time to cool down between cycles.

I purchased this unit to replace a well known American name brand 6 gallon pancake compressor. The noise reduction is amazing. You can barely hear it running. This will be a tremendous benefit when doing inside jobs such as a rehab or working in a small workshop. In addition to that, the unit seems to be well constructed and I hope it provides me with many years of service .

Love this compressor. I will never go back to old and noisy compressors. extremely quiet, exceed my expectations if it comes to noise. hose adapters are solid, easy to attach and disengaged the hoses. Only the drain valve stick out of the bottom tank little farther then I will like, but ball valve is a big plus.

Bought this to power an airbrush and brad nailer. It is very quiet and easy to operate. Im very happy with this purchase.

We are extremely pleased with this purchase. It is so quiet that we can hear each other talk when the compressor is running, unlike our previous one. We highly recommend it.

I am a Building Contractor, I bought this to be used from job to job. I prefer to leave my compressor in the truck and run a cord to the truck to power the compressor, then connect a long air hose, it has always worked good. At first when I unpackaged this compressor I was disappointed by the label on the plug stating that this must be directly plugged into an outlet, no extension cord. It turns out this compressor is light enough to easily carry around and quiet enough to work right next to. Like so quiet that you wont believe it. I use it for modest use of one to two guns at a time and it keeps right up. Be aware Im not powering a framing crew with air or anything. I like this compressor so much that I will be buying another one soon !

Wow just wow. If you have ever had a run of the mill air compressor and are tired of the loud and obnoxious sound that it produces then this is the best thing youll ever buy. I have had a 30 gallon oil-less 2.6hp craftsman and it was loud as could be, in the 95 to100db range and if you used it for any extended amount of time it was unbearable in the garage. I got a 5hp 80 gal oiled and it was better but it was still loud and the sound was much lower toned so it was more tolerable. But when i needed a smaller one and stated doing research and California Air Tools kept popping up as the one to go with due to its quietness compared to all the others. I have a friend with a porter cable 6gal for $99 and it seems to be the one that everyone buys, it is loud @85-90db but face it most compressors are and that is what is to be expected. I almost pulled the trigger until i saw this one as an amazon open box for $120 and thought id give it a try. I will tell you that i would happily pay the full price of $200 if i would have been able to hear it run before. It is as quiet as they say. You can have a conversation right next to it while talking at a normal level. The build quality is far above most compressors i the sub $300 category.

It is still a bit loud, although a vast improvement over my old one. I use it in a dental laboratory and while quieter than my previous unit its still loud enough that in a closet with the door shut across the building from me when it kicks on I cant hear the radio anymore and conversations are difficult to have over the noise. However the dual tank capacity is pretty good and its very compact.

First off, this thing is surprisingly quiet. Everything works great and practically no leakage. After 1 week at full pressure, there was only 1.5lb of pressure loss. There was a small amount of damage which I am not concerned about. You can run this in the house and not disturb anyone. I would recommend an auxiliary air tank though. I used the tank from the dead 20 gallon compressor this unit is replacing. Less than $8 in parts and its a fully functional tank. I spoke with California Air Tools and they told me that this is a 70/30 motor and that I shouldnt run the compressor for more than an hour at a time so the 4 minutes it takes to fill the total 24.6 gallons doesnt worry me. Sure, it takes a little longer to get 20 gallons of air, but my ears arent bleeding while the compressor is running.
